How European Countries Like Germany, Britain, and France Plundered & Traded African Lands (Video)
Like taking candy from children… more like taking land, resource wealth, and freedom to move about and claim their homeland statuses… That was the European countries’ mad, blood-drunk ‘Scramble For Africa.’ Here is a documentary short that explains how African countries were conquered, plundered and even reshaped by France and the UK.
(Onward Christian soldiers, huh? Must’ve been reading from another ‘good book.’ And they disregarded the indigenous peoples as savages.)
Hit the jump, and prepare to get mad.
Wonder Woman (Comic-Con Trailer)
The official Comic-Con trailer for “Wonder Woman”, starring Gal Gadot, got dropped on nerds’ heads recently. Kinda reserved about it so far. “Batman vs. Superman” left some room for turning up for DC. But will “Suicide Squad” leave viewers like ‘WOW, great spinoff!’ or ‘Mehhh… rather see the Justice League flick’? Time will tell, but the trailer checks all the boxes for a comic book action hero war period piece that “Captain America: The First Avenger” did. So, can’t hate on DC for not trying hard.
King Arthur: Legend of the Sword (Comic-Con Trailer)
Attendees of this year’s Comic-Con got a first look at the trailer for “King Arthur: Legend of the Sword” (in theaters 2017). Charlie Hunnam stars as Arthur; a less noble, more grimy version. Looks like the timeframe of the film’s setting is a bit more modern than other tellings of the story, too, but you still get the armor clanging, sword in stone, knight fighting and all of that.
The Great Wall (First Look Clip)
In this case, we are using Hollywood filmmaking to introduce Chinese culture.
– Zhang Yimou
Promising true cross-cultural filmmaking – an American-scripted story told about, and in, China while remaining authentic. Starring Matt Damon, so it should be epic. Watch the piece above for proof. In theaters next year (2017).
But… will “The Great Wall” be accepted? Don’t think [at least] some Asians are feeling Hollywood putting out yet another White-man-saves-the-Asians movie. Even if it is a fantasy flick. Peep the Tweet-heat after the jump.
Images Exposing America’s Racism: The Murder Of Emmett Till (Video)
1955. Your parents and/or grandparents REMEMBER this. The killing of Emmett Till happened not even ONE full lifetime ago. Anybody wanting to tell you that revisiting such a ‘distant past’ is divisive, that you should just ‘move on’… well you should. They would have been the same people who would have believed Emmett was ‘flirting’ and that his death was his fault or just a fact of life. The fact is that the loss of Emmett’s life was a TRAGEDY. That a movement found life and strength provides some solace but in no way lessens our sadness and mourning.
Anyone telling you to move on is right. Do it. Move on… AWAY FROM THEM! Anyone telling you that to keep bringing up race, protest or even talk frankly about race-motivated violence against Black Americans that is going on in the same lifetime as the murder of Emmett Till is ‘divisive’… Move on. But remember who they are.
“The irresponsible rhetoric of our President, who has used the pulpit of the presidency to divide us by race and color, has made America a more dangerous environment for everyone.”
– Donald Trump
So, The President, a Black American (whose citizenship Trump consistently contested, remember?), even talking about what has happened to Philando Castile, Alton Sterling, Walter L. Scott, Tamir Rice, Eric Garner or others divides us and makes for a dangerous environment? Hmmm… okay… Glad the cameras caught that tidbit in the midst of your nomination acceptance speech.
Yeah. I heard you RNC. I heard you, Donald Trump. And I am moving on!
But back to the video above: Watch. Grieve. Get focused. Get motivated. Get moving. Get more informed. And never forget Emmett Till!

xXx: Return Of Xander Cage (Teaser Trailer)
The guy that started it all… the “xXx” action movies is back like Jason Bourne to breathe new life into the franchise. Watch Vin Diesel, Samuel L. Jackson, and more in the teaser trailer for “xXx: Return of Xander Cage.” Coming to theaters January 20, 2017.
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (Behind The Scenes Video)
Really hoping they go kinda old school with the making of “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.” Such is implied in this behind the scenes video with the cast and crew. Some things you just can’t get out of computer simulations and green screenery. Get in there heavy with action sequences, fight choreography, and rich set scenery. Please. For the Star Wars saga’s sake.
Dope. So dope. Watch.
Systemic Racism: Is That Really a Thing? (Video)
Okay. Right quick: The answer to the above question on systemic racism being a ‘thing’ is YES! It is a thing. Films For Action did an investigative mini-doc series about it. Wanna see it? Here it is. Start with the first of eight exhibits on the subject, Part 1: Wealth Gap, above. The rest of the series’ minute-long videos follow after the jump.
Take a bit of time. You need to see them all; even if you knew the answer to the question. And visit www.raceforward.org for more info when you are done viewing.
The Magnificent Seven (Trailer #2)
Only a couple of months away from a magnificent reboot of an action western classic – “The Magnificent Seven”, starring Denzel Washington. Surrounded by a stellar cast loaded with Hollywood notables, expect some dope quotables and some incredible movie moments. How can we be so sure? Well, there’s this latest trailer for the movie… JAM-PACKED with that red meat rock ’em sock ’em shock ’em (pow, stab, kaboom… you know) you didn’t even know you were waiting for.
Oh yeah. Gonna be a dope September at the theater!
The Hurt Business (Documentary Trailer)
From the producers of Bowling for Columbine, Fahrenheit 9/11 and Generation Iron, THE HURT BUSINESS details the lives of various martial arts superstars, including Ronda Rousey and Jon Jones, competing in the fastest growing sport in the world and the struggles and triumphs that accompany all careers in cage fighting.
Besides featuring both legends, such as Georges St-Pierre, and up-and-comers in the sport the film covers the history of mixed martial arts fighting, from the coliseums of ancient Greece to modern day venues such as the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, all expertly narrated by Kevin Costner.
Themes of injury both mental and physical are explored and the question is raised; is it worth it to sacrifice one’s mind and body for sport?

Loving (Trailer)
Wow. This looks like one of those incredible movies with heart that could get missed because there is not enough rockem-sockem or scandal in it. But we came across this trailer, and not letting you know about it would be a crime… like Black and White folks getting married back in the day. Yeah… not that long ago. Stay woke.
Richard and Mildred Loving, an interracial couple, are sentenced to prison in Virginia in 1958 for getting married.
– New Trailer Buzz
Beautiful story. Plus Michael Shannon has been delivering the goods since HBO’s Boardwalk Empire. Comedian Nick Kroll should really get a chance to stretch his dramatic acting chops in this one. And Mildred Loving should be a breakout role for Ruth Negga (Marvel’s Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D., AMC Original Series: Preacher).
ScHoolboy Q – “Black THougHts” (Part 3) [Video]
So we’ve had “THat Part” (one) and “Tookie Knows II”… Think you’re ready for a Part 3 to drop for ScHoolboy Q? Well, focus on those “Black THougHts” (Part 3) then; and watch the video above.
Suicide Squad (Final Trailer)
Okay.
So we have had a Blitz Trailer, International Trailer, Official Trailer, and we started with a mf’n Comic-Con Trailer for “Suicide Squad”… Message to DC movie-making powers that be… This better live up to the hype. Two years of “Superman v. Batman” build-up and many thought the movie was meh at best.
Wait ’til “Suicide Squad” though. That’s what we’re all thinking. And we are hoping it will be worth the wait. One final trailer. Come on August!
Sci-Fi: Beyond (Short Film)
Gold mine find for the sci-fi minded! Very thoughtfully put together film short entitled “Beyond.” In it Arya Vega, the last remaining member of her family, a lineage with a unique genetic code (‘variant DNA’) that grants her the ability to teleport. DOPE! She goes on missions exploring new planets, but all the while she is in search of something that will explain who exactly she is and where she comes from.
Kudos to producer/director Raphael Rogers, doing the work himself with co-stars Bianca Malinowski and Andrew Varenhorst.
Only thing is… this seemed to be a taste… gotta be something more. It’s not too late for someone (e.g. some production outfit) to pick up and continue the story.
As I Am: The Life + Times of DJ AM (Documentary Trailer)
DJ AM, aka Adam Goldstein, was born in Philadelphia (PA, USA) but belonged to the world. A tragic loss of life and light way too soon, Showtime is debuting the telling his story tonight (9pm EST) in the documentary film “As I Am: The Life and Times of DJ AM.” A story to watch as soon as it comes out; told to reveal a deeper truth, with respect, and oftentimes in AM’s own voice.
Wow.
Blood Father (Trailer)
This could be Mel Gibson’s ticket back into the Hollywood elite. Watching this trailer…whew! In case you forgot what Gibson can do in the frame of an action movie, watch the trailer for “Blood Father” (due out late Summer). In this movie, biological did bother… a few years late… but damn if he doesn’t have his daughter’s back AND front!
Imperium (Trailer)
You see Daniel Radcliffe. You see Toni Collette. But this is no fantasy epic. No comedy. And yes, it’s a movie; but in America today, it’s not all fiction. Great trailer. Good bet for a great film experience.
Nate Foster (Daniel Radcliffe), a young, idealistic FBI agent, goes undercover to take down a radical right-wing terrorist group. The bright up-and-coming analyst must confront the challenge of sticking to a new identity while maintaining his real principles as he navigates the dangerous underworld of white supremacy. Inspired by real events, IMPERIUM stars Daniel Radcliffe, Toni Collette, Tracy Letts, with Nestor Carbonell, Burn Gorman and Sam Trammell and will be released by Lionsgate Premiere in theaters and On Demand August 19.

Ricky Williams Takes The High Road (Documentary Trailer)
That music for this trailer though. Dope. Speaking of dope…
The former NFL running back dives deep into his relationship with the substance that effectively cost him his football career. Catch the full film, “Ricky Williams Takes The High Road,†at SI.com/Films on July 13th.

Sully (Trailer)
Surprised it took this long to make a Captain “Sully” saves-the-day movie, but it’s [finally] coming. And it’s a Tom Hanks film. Count on it to be a blockbuster; lock for some Academy awards.
The story of Chesley Sullenberger, who became a hero after gliding his plane along the water in the Hudson River, saving all of his 155 passengers.
