Well Kendrick Lamar continues to win in 2015. Â His critically acclaimed album “To Pimp A Butterfly” is selling like Rap albums did back in the 90’s and has helped to reinvigorate the conversation about doing a complete work rather than just catchy singles. Â Now add to the list he has been recognized as a “Generational Icon” by the California Senate and was awarded on the Senate floor. Â This was organized by fellow Compton native Sen. Isadore Hall III who introduced Kendrick to the Senate Floor and presented the award. Â Kendrick along with his fiancee Whitney Alford were there to accept the award and thank the Senate for the distinguished honor.

Every day people make remixes to classic and not so classic tracks. Â Sometimes the track sounds the same other times completely different. Â With that said sometimes producers are able to take just a little bit of the original track and make it their own while holding to true to what the artists created in the beginning. Â Well LAKIM has done just that with his latest remix track titled “Im Rick James Bitch” where he flips the Rick James classic “Super Freak”. Â I mean he adds some drums and a different baseline and it is a head nodder from start to finish. Â The only problem is it is too short only lasting for under two minutes.

Blindfolded, Jasirah Bin Hitam is an Aboriginal Australian who decided to put her faith in humanity; specifically, the humans from outside her culture who have traditionally be less-than-kind to her kind. Filmed at Cottesloe Beach, Jasirah stood with open arms and offered the ultimate and most basic act of acceptance and universal care for another…a hug.
Even if it’s no big deal to you, think of how big a deal it is in a place where people think it’s a big enough thing to film it. Big enough to reach 200k viral within hours.
“The video is creating important conversation about attitudes toward Aboriginal Australians,†said ICEA [Indigenous Communities Education and Awareness] founder and CEO Lockie Cooke. “It’s so powerful to have created something that has been so popular in our community, which inspires us to continue the work we’ve been doing in the reconciliation space. The way in which the video has been embraced shows that ICEA’s froth is strong and our message, mutual respect for all Australians, is important and relevant to our society.â€

Â This by definition would be described as Thug action, menace behavior destructive to American culture. Â Well all of these things have happened after Kentucky college basketball team lost, a pumpkin festival in California, and any major city after a sports team wins a championship. Â The funny thing is the media will describe this as mischievious behavior kids being kids. Â While the actions that have taken place in Baltimore uprising and previously in Ferguson the same American citizens are labeled as Thugs, Criminals with destructive behavior. Â One big difference the first group is white and the second black which makes all the difference dealing with Media. When it comes to Hip Hop there has always been an emphasis on style whether it is clothing, footwear, and also Hair Styles.  The Gumbo cut, the High Top Fade, the Low Cut Ceaser are all trademark hairstyles worn by many artists.  One that has also been around since the beginning and is always in style is the Bald look.  Helping to keep the bald look on point Dome Care Solutions (Seattle Based Company) has partnered up with J Moore of “Sunday Night Sound Session” to make a great video detailing a day in the life of the radio host.  J Moore & DJ Hyphen, hosts of the SNSS show, are friends to the Beatz & Lyrics Show and showed love to ArtByOdell on his trip to Seattle to cover Bumbershoot for Jayforce.com.  It’s also great to see a video detailing the highlights of a person grown in Hip Hop where J Moore is playing with his son, at work on his Sunday night radio show, or running his art gallery aptly called “2312 Gallery.” Props to Dome Care & J. Moore for putting a little focus the ‘smoother’ side of style that goes beyond hip hop….
