America’s Dangerous Sugar Addiction (Video)
It’s been said that if sugar was submitted for approval by the U.S. Food & Drug Association today… it would be turned down as a drug with the quickness! Think about it. From fields of cane to white powder, bagged up and sold, giving so many kids a ‘sugar high’ – especially tonight. Okay, okay… we’re not trying to put the kibosh on Halloween… but take a look at John Oliver’s segment on America’s daily sugar overdose on HBO’s ‘Last Week Tonight’ think about how much sweet stuff you ingest (and how corporations plot to ensure you keep doing so).
America… we have a problem. Maybe? Well… Let’s talk about it over a cup of coffee. How do you take yours? Dark-brewed, heavy cream and… awww, dammit!
Raekwon – “Zoom” / “Free”
Another doper-than-dope Hip-Hop dosed redux of a late 20th century classic… this time times two. Yuh! Yooo @ojones1 Raekwon touched on that Commodores jam “Zoom” (Tuskegee represent)… and got at that “Free” as a B-side wrap up for this gift to the eager #TBT (Throwback Thursday) fan masses eagerly waiting for this weekly blessing.
Officially Ranked: The Top 25 Black Men’s Hairstyles
The [Caesar is the] one haircut that has never — and will never — go out of style. There were Black men with Ceasars in the 40s, the 70s, the 90s, and now. Every other cut cycles. The Ceasar is forever.
– Very Smart Brothas
Truth (even though dude above ain’t hearing it). Epic reporting on an under-appreciated urban topic. Ice Cube covered “The Barbershop” culture, and Chris Rock did the “Good Hair” movie… but there is something left to be addressed. Black men’s hairstyles have changed dramatically since before The Dramatics and will likely keep doing so beyond the next dance rap craze. But who will document the styles that made the man over the decades thus far. Don’t worry. The Brothas got you…

Technology: South Korea Is Almost Ready For Autonomous Robots Called ‘Pibots’ To Fly Their Planes (Video)
“Pibots” have been designed to fly every kind of plane that a human was meant to fly, and they have been tested for most every simulation and situation… except actual cockpit flight in a full-sized aircraft. But South Korean researchers say that is coming soon (in the video report above).
Researchers in South Korea are developing a robotic pilot that could potentially replace humans in the cockpit. Unlike drones and autopilot programs which are configured for specific aircraft, the robots’ humanoid design will allow it to fly any type of plane with no additional sensors.
Just saying. Why does that first Pibot look like a skeleton after the crash? And “because it’s Halloween” is NOT an acceptable answer!

Politics: Ed Asner Takes Less Than 9 Minutes To Explain Things To The 99% In This Animated Piece (Video)
Incredible work… incredibly infuriating to some politicians and the super-rich (oh well)… by legendary actor Ed Asner. C’mon son. Why you mad though? Asner was the voice of mega-wealthy Ed Wuncler on ‘The Boondocks.’ He’s one of you. Maybe it’s the truth in it all that is hurting you. A plain talk explanation of why things are currently f####d up with the U.S. economy, who’s really to blame, who’s enabling them (looking at you, money-grabbing politicians), and who is fed up with it all. All in a Schoolhouse Rock sort of animated clip (no music though).
Ha! Bet some folks on ‘Capitol Hill’ were shouting some ‘Interjections’ when they saw this. You know, some of them could lose their jobs this coming Tuesday (go vote)!
(And watch for Mr. Asner’s explanation of ‘Trickle Down Economics’…)

Samuel King – “What I Wasn’t Taught In School” (Video)
OMG! This was me in secondary school. Can’t help but laugh a bit. But this Samuel King… some serious business with the message he’s delivering in this dramatic spoken word piece delivered in a classroom setting.
A Spoken word short film for those frustrated at Black History teaching in schools. Disillusioned student Samuel King relays his grievances to his teacher that Black History Month isn’t taught with as much depth and with as much pride in schools. Samuel engages in a short rebuttal with his teacher, before arguing that education in school does little to satisfy his thirst for knowledge of influential people in Black history who seem to be elusive in the curriculum.
“There seems to be a lot you haven’t told us, and you shut down and hold back on the bold ones who stand against the way you’re trying to mold us.”
Great video. A must watch!
The Dawn Of Def Jam: Rick Rubin Returns To His College Dorm (Video)
Most who know know… at the heart of the engine of the legendary Def Jam Recordings was co-founder Rick Rubin. Take a trip with this clip. Back to before ‘those’ days. Right right at the beginning where it all began, in Rubin’s dorm room. Yeah, of course, Russell Simmons is in there speaking on it with some ‘others’ around back then, too.
Def Jam was started 30 years ago in Rick Rubin’s NYU dorm room. Watch him go back to the place where it all began for the very first time.
