Technology: Drones Deployed Over South Africa Drop Beers Not Bombs (Video)
Not all the news on drone tech nowadays is scary. Remember that UK pizza delivery drone post on here? Well, how about beer… delivered! Hey, it’s what South African concert goers had available. A beer order is placed, a drone is loaded and deployed with beer, the drone flies over the location of the order and delivers the payload via parachute drop… and a crowd cheers. Nice!
‘At the moment it is hand guided, but it will eventually fly on a GPS grid.’
– OppiKoppi TV
According to NY Daily News, the drone already flies delivery by GPS grid. OppiKoppi came up with the concept. Darkwing Aerials took it from concept to prototype. Want to see it work? Here we go (above).
Akir – “Focus” (EP)
Respect. Akir caught the post on here for his “Future” single, and sent the EP. Now, we have it to share for you. Always Keep It Real. He did that. This site supports good Hip-Hop and the artists who make it. Appreciate that support in return.
‘Thank you for posting my new single “Future” ft. Immortal Technique. I also wanted you to have my new FOCUS EP as well.’

Denitia x Sene – “It’s Your Fault”
Sunday morning-style soul compliments of Sene (on the beat). Denitia and Sene laid silky sound down for “It’s Your Fault.” Shhh. Just listen.
Steven Fulop: Marine Turned ‘Action-Adventure Mayor’ of Jersey City (Video)
Businessweek magazine had this article entitled “Action-Adventure Mayors” (renamed something far less fun in its online edition..but oh well). Could have been a new comic series or something; so of course, I had to read it. Turns out, Democratic politicians like Steven Fulop are beginning their careers by running for mayor in towns in need of a major turnaround. Check out this U.S. Marine vet who defeated a solid incumbent for the Jersey City (NJ, USA) top spot with this ad (above). Creative… oh yeah! Compelling… for sure. But did it really say anything about why he was qualified for office or how he proposed to turn things around? Is any of that ‘stuff’ (you know platform, policy stance, plans…) even necessary in today’s politics? Just saying.
(That said… I think it is a cool video, too.)

R&B: Jeremih – “Love Hangover” (Prod. By Pop x Oak)
Jeremih dropped this jawn “Love Hangover” (produced by Pop & Oak). His “Thumpy Johnson” LP is on the way… supposedly. The project’s “machine” has sputtered so far; but there’s still time left in the year. And evidenced by this track, there is still much good music to be heard from J.
Camp Lo x Pete Rock Spit Jewels On the Mic with Tony Touch (Video)
Golden Era greats turned modern era grinders Camp Lo and Soul Brother Pete Rock dropped by the Toca Tuesdays show on Shade 45. Hey, their new mixtape “80 Blocks From Tiffany’s Pt II” is out. Now, things must kick into high gear. But this is fun for them… blessing the Toca Tuesday mic so they could get in on the Power Cypher.
Akir – “Future” feat. Immortal Technique
Akir aka “Always Keep It Real†does just that. He makes beats and his raspy flow and gangsta-infused content is borne of the street. His upcoming LP “The Plan” (due out September 24, 2013) will have the realness of both, as Akir pledges, ‘“The Plan” is just that, my map for a musical journey on the way to becoming better.’ Check out this single “Future” – featuring Immortal Technique.
Suicide Kings – “Savages” feat. M.O.P.
Suicide Kings (emcee Joey Knuckles, DJ/Producer King Cole) are pushing their latest release “Crown Of Thorns†which includes this banger “Savages” (featuring M.O.P.). As soon as you hear the beat drop, you think to yourself… yeah, M.O.P. is on this somewhere. Listen.
Comedy: NFL QB Brothers Peyton & Eli Manning Debut Hilarious New Video For ‘Football On Your Phone’ (Video)
Yeah! Rap with a message. Even the NFL’s Peyton and Eli Manning know it is important to have a message within the music. “It’s football on your phone.” How’s that for a message?
Hahaaaa! The Manning boys are flow-nomenal (and funny) in this one… even getting their dad (Archie) in this crazy DirecTV’s NFL Sunday commercial.
Crate Diggers: Tony Touch (Video)
In this episode of Crate Diggers, DJ Tony Touch chats about his early gigs, channeling Afrika Bambaataa for his cover art for “The PieceMaker 3: Return of the 50 MC’s,†and shows off a DEEP archive of alphabetized Hip-Hop, comedy records and more.
Bone Crusher – “Vibration” feat. Raheem Devaughn
Remember when Bone Crusher flow style was like the Dirty South’s loud bull rumbling through a China shop? Well… this is less ‘rumble’ more “Vibration.” Smoothed out joint featuring Raheem Devaughn takes it in another direction. One that may take a couple of listens to get used to. Vibe is nice though.
Comedy: Stephen Colbert ‘Gets Lucky’ Performing Daft Punk’s Hit (Video)
Stephen colbert invite Hugh Laurie et Matt… by oh-my-magSo that’s the word: The French dance music duo Daft Punk cancels on their Colbert Report appearance – citing as the reason a prior arrangement to do no live performances for the MTV/Viacom associated networks before MTV’s VMA Awards. But so what??!! Host Stephen Colbert does his own star-studded “Get Lucky” music video/performance/dancefest for his ColbChella ‘013… and it will be one of the most enjoyable clips you will watch this week!
(Actually, the Daft Punk guys may not have even been scheduled for the show… so don’t hold any grudges for them. But DO enjoy the above clip… thoroughly!)
Playing “Rhythm Roulette” With !llmind… and Patti LaBelle? (Video)
The blindfold goes on, and NYC producer !llmind goes in! Picking Patti LaBelle, QuarterHash, and Freddie Hubbert records… dude goes to work creating some track magic! Rough going at first (you’ll see); but he pulls out the banger in the end. !llmind is one of my favorite producers these days. I don’t think there’s anyone who can successfully fuse the boom bap & trap worlds together so effectively & consistently.
Thor: The Dark World (HD Trailer)
The sequel to the 2011 Thor movie “Thor: The Dark World” hits big screens November 8, 2013. The timeline for the sequel picks up where “The Avengers” movie left off; focusing on Thor. This trailer alludes to the action and story of the sequel – grand-scale battles, teaming with Loki (WHAT?) and more. It’s said that this one will track closer to the Thor of comic lore. We’ll hope… and see… this Fall.
Murs Speaks On How The Hip Hop Industry Needs To Grow Up (Video)
My nephew Cezanne is fan of Vans & we ran across this interview of Murs. In this interview, Murs discusses his career & the problem between the Hip-Hop & the rap music industry. One of the key things Murs mentions is how the hip hop music “industry” needs to grow up. Can’t say I don’t disagree.
