K-Def – “The Meeting†feat. Blu

K-Def is dropping a new EP (also entitled “The Meeting”) with this cut on it… and features from Insight, Has-Lo, and Kaimbr… due out on August 20, 2013.

Then he… well, he took some time away. But now Scott is back, dropping by ‘Sway In The Morning’ to chat about his top five emcees, classic beat work he has done, what’s next for him (like claiming that top producer spot), and more. New Drug Can Reportedly Kill Seven Cancers With One Method (Video)
Breast cancer, ovary cancer, colon cancer, bladder cancer, brain cancer, liver cancer, prostate cancer… CURED! How’s that for a headline? Well, Irving Weissman’s team at Stanford Medical School is seeing success on that front in the early testing stages (with mice) of a cancer vaccine that is more method than med. In a nutshell, cancer cells cloak themselves from antibodies that would kill them with a “do not eat me” protein marker (researchers call it CD47). Weissman’s research is testing a cure strategy that customizes antibodies to stick to and turn off those markers. Then the body’s immune system can target and destroy the cancerous cells.

Comedy: Hitler Responds To Kendrick Lamar’s ‘Control’ Verse (Video)
The chatter surrounding Kendrick Lamar’s verse on Big Sean’s “Control” record with Jay Electronica has been slowing but the responses are just coming in. Ironically Hitler was the first to vent his frustration with many rapper’s delays in striking back back at the self-proclaimed new King Of NY. Hilarious.
Joe Budden – “Lost Control” (Freestyle) [Kendrick Response]
We’re not going to post every ‘Control Freestyle’ response to Kendrick Lamar’s seismic verse but the one’s most people are looking forward to hearing or those that were simply outstanding like Papoose, Cassidy, & Joel Ortiz’s responses. Even Uncle Murda’s & Atlanta emcee Yamin Semali’s responses were interesting. Joe Budden didn’t deliver a scathing diss to Kendrick Lamar with his new response but he represented the best way he could by showing that he does have bars. As fans of hip hop music that’s all that we can really ask of all these emcees.
Papoose – “Control” (Freestyle)
Papoose comes into the fray with a worthwhile response to Kendrick Lamar’s verse on Big Sean’s “Control.” Pap doesn’t stop at Kendrick either… Lamar’s TDE fam, Big Sean, Kanye West, Drake… everybody can get it. Check out his “Control” freestyle here.

Technology: Carbon Fiber Jet Wing Lets ‘Jetman’ Fly In Formation With a Boeing B-17 Bomber (Video)
DaVinci. The Wright Brothers. And now…‘Jetman’ Yves Rossy shows us that man was meant to fly… all it takes is a dream, the vision, relentless work at design, and awesome tech! Check out what, in effect, is one giant step closer to pure human flight. The tech is his Carbon Fiber Jet Wing; and it is AMAZING!
And if you think the view from the ground during one of Yves’ flights is impressive, think about what the guys flying the planes are witnessing (like ‘how is he doing that without a plane?’).
Check out the incredible footage above! Shout out to my cousin Joe (love you man!) for shooting me the Wired piece on this.

Yamin Semali – “Uncle Ruckus Simmons” (Russell Simmons Diss)
While most rappers are making response records to Kendrick Lamar’s ‘Control’ verse, Atlanta’s own Yamin Semali went in another direction by clearly placing Russell Simmons in his crosshairs for that ill advised, ill-timed, & unfunny ‘Harriet Tubman Sex Tape’ comedy skit that he initially endorsed. The former Def Jam head has subsequently apologized for the video, but Yamin Semali isn’t letting it slide. As timing would have it all the chatter in Hip Hop last few days has been about stepping up has been in regard to Kendrick Lamar’s verse on Big Sean’s “Control,†but very few are going to go in on Uncle Rush’s bad move & those in hip hop misrepresenting it. Wonder how much will said about THIS ‘Control’ verse because it’s probably the most powerful.
Listen (FREE download and lyrics available at link below) and form your own opinions. Yamin made his plain on the track.

Cassidy – “Control” (Freestyle)
Out of all the so-called “Control” responses to Kendrick Lamar, I felt Cassidy had the best one by far. I also enjoyed Joell Ortiz’s version, too. At the last minute as we were about to hit enter on this post a new ‘Control’ freestyle just came in from ‘Mr. Alphabetical Slaughter’ himself, Papoose. Even Papoose surprised me with his response aimed at K Dot. Yes. Papoose went in too.

‘Chi Raq’ Documentary Highlights Chicago Death Tolls That Mirror Iraq & Double That Of Afghanistan (Video)
“Chi Raq” is a compelling video portrait of life in South and West Chicago by London filmmaker Will Robson-Scott. Shout out to my homie Hustle Simmons who appears in the mini-documentary/video portrait to speak on his own personal loss & offered some positive words about the escalating problem in Chicago.
“For the past decade, Chicago has been enduring a violence epidemic, with a death toll in the thousands and casualties mirroring the losses experienced by the US Army in Iraq war over the same period. Allowing its subjects to take center stage and tell their stories in their own words, Robson-Scottʼs film is unflinchingly honest in its depiction of life on the streets of one of the most dangerous cities in America.”
