Drake – “Back To Back” (Meek Mill Diss)

Interesting… Beef in rap isn’t anything new. There have been the Jigga vs. Nas, Pac vs. Big, Moe D vs. Uncle L – legendary battles. However, this beef Drake and Meek Mill have cooking has taken a unique turn as of late. Drizzy has dropped “Back To Back” (see what we did there?) diss tracks with no response from Mills. Is this building to a one-sided whuppin’ or is Meek loading up for a video game fatality punch? Time will tell.

For those that missed the first diss – “Charged Up” – we got that for you after the jump.

Drake Speaks The Truth In His ‘Obey Your Thirst’ Documentary (Video)

I agree with Drake in many of the points he made in this new Fader mini-documentary. I’ve given advice to artists all the time about similar things as to what’s said in this interview. Most don’t listen which is probably why they aren’t as successful as they’d like to be on their OWN terms. Stay focused.

“Coming up in Toronto, people told Drake to move to New York if he was serious about making it. Instead, he stayed where he was and made history by proving that if you’re a truly multi-layered artist, you can make it from anywhere. “Do it the way I did it,” he says in the above Obey Your Thirst documentary. “Do it from where you’re at. If you have the music, that’s all it takes.”

Now, at the top of his game, Drake says he competes not with established legends or other top-sellers, but with the countless kids itching to take his spot.  Now that hip-hop’s playing field is more open than ever before, Drake knows
there are countless kids itching to take his spot. Those up-and-comers are now his competition, not any established rapper. “That’s how I try to keep pushing this forward,” he says. “Just to let that kid know that I’m not done yet.”

Raekwon Speaks On His Ties To Drake, His Album “F.I.L.A.”, What’s Happening In Baltimore And More (Video)

Raekwon drops in on Ebro In The Morning at New York studios to talk about “F.I.L.A,” respect for the homies 40 and Drizzy Drake, the ebb and flow of his career, hood realities and perspectives being felt on the ground in Baltimore nowadays, and much more.

Kanye West Speaks On New Album, Drake, Paul McCartney, Having More Children & Fashion with BBC Radio 1’s Zane Lowe (Video)

Kanye cracks me up when his vocal inflections in interviews keep changing up. It’s like people who use a certain voice when they are working in a corporate environment as compared to how they REALLY speak when they are off work, the tie is off, & they get around your boys talking sh*t. Hahaaaa! Check out another interesting interview of Kanye with BBC 1 Radio’s Zane Lowe as the Chicago icon discusses everything from the possibility of having more kids, the direction of his new album, dealing with the fashion industry, giving props to Drake & more. He also breaks down in tears when discussing his friend in the fashion industry that passed.

ESPN Highlights: Drake Hosts The 2014 ESPYs (Video)

Hey, Stuart Scott’s award acceptance was definitely the most beautiful moment of the night of the ESPYs. But like it or love it, Drake, as host, hit all the marks (and “Side Pieces” … hilarious) and kept the show lively and moving.

That ‘Lance blow’ though… (a W-T-F moment to be certain)! Enjoy the clip above, with lots after the jump. If you have half as much fun as Drake seemed to be having, you’ll be doing good.

No doubt. On that mic, Cassidy can go. His latest contribution to the Hip-Hop world’s library is more proof of that. The world is always checking for Drizzy Drake? Okay… here’s @Cassidy_Larsiny flowing rawer than ever over that “0 to 100 Bars” jawn he has out. Get the download FREE.

Drake – “Draft Day”

156069-0-600These are the type of joints I like to hear from Drake on some emcee shiiiiiiiet. In this ‘Draft Day’ joint the Toronto kid manages to throw a few shots at Jay Z, salutes his homie & future NFL draft pick Texas A&M QB Johnny “Football” Manziel & overwhelmingly delivers over a good beat that compliments but doesn’t drown out the lyrics.  There’s a bunch of things perfect about this joint right here. Even the timing of the release of this is gold with the NFL draft day coming up Thursday May 8th.

Comedy: “Nancy Grace” Skit On SNL (Drake as Katt Williams) [Video]

In yet another one of its famous show’s sketches about other shows… Saturday Night Live (SNL) has struck comedic gold with this ‘Nancy Grace’ bit! You probably knew Drake was funny, but dude is HILARIOUS in this one! If imitation is the highest form of flattery, then Drizzy is flattering the hell out of comedian Katt Williams.

Drake – “Hold On, We’re Going Home” feat. Majid Jordan (Video)

I haven’t heard Drake’s new album “Nothing Was The Same” yet, but I do know I really dug this particular soulful single called “Hold On, We’re Going Home”. Great choice to release a brand new video for this song.  This mini-movie features cameos from rapper ASAP Rocky as well as actor Steven Bauer who famously starred as Al Pacino’s right hand man “Manolo” in the movie Scarface”. I still dig the song although this mini-movie didn’t fit what I mentally pictured for such a great R&B record.

ESPN: Miami Heat’s Relationship With Miami’s Music Scene (Video)

Some do indeed fly south, to join others already in South Beach, for the winter… for basketball Miami Heat season! ESPN put together a piece on music notables like Birdman and Weezy, Jimmy Buffett and others who come on down court side to catch the games. Lil Wayne is not necessarily a Miami Heat fan though to say the least.

Drake – “Started From The Bottom” featuring Notorius B.I.G. (DJ Rasta Root Juicy Dirty Edit)

artworks-000047542020-aontrd-t500x500Nice cover art. One of the better offerings from Drake in recent years, mixed in with some “Juicy” rhyming from Notorious B.I.G. This DJ Rasta Root re-fix is good work. Check out his Juicy Dirty Edit of Drake’s “Started From The Bottom” and get a FREE download right f–kin here.

Drake – “5am In Toronto” (Video)

Definitely one of my favorite songs from Drake in recent years has been this “5am In Toronto” joint & the “Started From The Bottom” record. Banging beats & good flow on this one right here as he drops this viral video live from the T.Dot….

Drake – “5AM In Toronto”

drakeIt’s 5:00am in Atlanta right now & I literally woke up to check my twitter when I noticed Drake released a new song called “5am In Toronto”. Looks like the kid from T.DOT is keeping up his series of ‘AM’ themes just like he did with his initial “9am In Dallas” joint. This new one produced by fellow Toronto native Boi-1da is special because it further highlights Drake’s gravitation back to his earlier musical career roots where he’s spending more time on the lyrical aspect of his music & key track selections instead of being ‘sing-song ‘ heavy.  Drizzy Drake also provides a little controversy too as he also takes a few quick shots at MTV & their annual ‘Hottest MC’s list that always causes controversy, hate & ill feelings every year amongst artists & fans alike. If you’re someone like me who enjoyed most of Drake’s earliest work then you’ll appreciate this joint as much or maybe even more than his now gold ‘Started From The Bottom’ single because he’s putting the majority of his focus back on actually rhyming & key beat selection.  He’s not doing anything that many dope artists with less mainstream appeal haven’t already been doing the last few years, but when an artist like Drake who’s entrenched in that mainstream spotlight does it then casual rap fans tend to fall in line.  Makes sense that his next full-length project will be called “Nothing Was The Same”.

Kendrick Lamar – “Poetic Justice” feat. Drake (Video)

Great visual storytelling with underground cameos to one of the best songs from Kendrick Lamar’s quality “Good Kid m.A.A.d. city” album that’s out now. Poetic Justice indeed.
