Scarface Speaking On Being ‘Deeply Rooted’ In Independent Music, His Best Album Ever And More (Video)

Scarface is definitely a citizen of The Universe… and a recent guest on Sway in the Morning. Good candid convo, as we have come to expect from BrotherMob’s interviews. Dropping “Deeply Rooted” on September 4, 2015, the talk around the web will likely be, at least in part, on how the work is guaranteed to be ‘real’ or ‘less commercial.’ Again, isn’t that also what we have come to expect from Uncle Face. He’ll touch on that aspect above as he speaks on ‘the best work he has ever done.’

Big talk… But real talk. Along with him admitting imitation-flattery of Chuck D’s style (and to being a crazy FANatic when it comes to PE’s “Black Steel In The Hour Of Chaos”), likening his Geto Boyz to N.W.A. (maybe even a movie coming of it, similarly. Hmmmm). All that and so much more in the interview above.

Everett Whiteside aka RunWRC – “45 Forty-Fives” (Mixtape)

Ohhhh! My bredren from waaay back! This one put me on a flashback to us chilling at the station Thursday into Friday, then riding out in The Couch (my beige beater ’85 Caprice Classic), toting crates, and him rocking gigs Friday into Saturday and beyond! Memories. Good to hear DJ Soul (ha, going with the throwback handle) still doing the damn the right damn way… just like did when he was running the WVUA-FM Wide World Of Hip-Hop back in the guts of the Golden Era. Soul sent me a CD y’all. Fortunately, he included a link to the mix online, so he went new school enough for me to share with y’all. Up with the tech, but still…

45 Forty-Five Records mixed on two turntables; No Serato and no special edition remixes; Extended version of this mix coming soon
RunWRC

Thank you, DJ Soul (aka Everett Whiteside aka RunWRC) my University of Alabama schoolmate, for the blessing of “45 Forty-Fives.” And Happy Belated Birthday homie!!

(Click play and enjoy the stream above, and ooh’s and aah’s you get from learning where some classic Hip-Hop samples came from… and from memories of actually playing some of these jams on tapes and vinyl, if you were around back then. And keep reading for more great stuff after the jump.)

One of my favorite songs off of Dr. Dre’s new “Compton” album is “Animals” produced by DJ Premier featuring this artist right here!

Up and coming West Coast Rapper/Singer Anderson .Paak was featured heavily on Dr. Dre’s latest album “Compton” which was inspired by the new film “Straight Outta Compton.” Anderson performs and provides the meaning behind an important track to him on the album, “Animals” which was produced by Dr. Dre and DJ Premier.

Hotel Clermont (Trailer) [NSFW]

Screenshot 2015-08-28 06.16.43

The Clermont Hotel on Ponce de Leon Avenue in Atlanta closed in 2009. But those who know know the internationally known basement strip club is still up and running. This documentary trailer teases (get it) the full story of the counter culture establishment frequented by bands, true ballers and all kinds of folk throughout history. Not just talking about the club below, but the scoop on residents who rented rooms above. True ATL history here. Hit the pic above or the link below to watch the trailer, then wait with anticipation like the rest of us.

Had to give it the Not Safe For Work label due to some brief nudity… There is a strip club there after all, sooooo…

Dutch Rebelle – “I Know” (Video)

In today’s Hip Hop game there is no excuse for you to not have great visuals for your project.  Of course the music comes first but you should also compliment the sound with visuals that help get your point across.  Dutch Rebelle has done a great job of doing this with her latest project Rebelle Diaries.  She just released her latest video for the Boogie produced track titled “I Know”.  I have had the pleasure of seeing Dutch perform live and this video gives you a glimpse of the energy and charisma that she displays when onstage.  Not to mention she gets creative with the face paint and black roses throughout the video nice to see her pushing the creative boundaries.  The video is directed by J Hunt of SmokeHouse Media and I will sign of with Dutch Rebelle’s signature closing Kiss Kiss Bang Bang!

Diamond D – “Jose Feliciano” (Video)

I talk about it ’cause I live it.
Diamond D

Bam! No truer words spit. Over a damn tight beat at that. If anybody in the game has the pedigree, it’s the DITC General Diamond D. Holding down the emcee duty AND the producer role on this “Jose Feliciano” track (named for another under-appreciated Grammy award winner, like himself) off “The Diam Piece.”

Resurrection Of Jake The Snake (Trailer)

Maaan! Come on! You gotta remember Jake “The Snake” Roberts and his pet. Mess around and get in the ring with Jake, and get the DDT slapped on you, and while you lay ‘semi-conscious’… AND Jake goes for the bag in the corner… to let his pet have some play time with you.

DAMIEN (THE PYTHON)!!!

Wow. Flashing back to the days of a true pro-wrestling superstar is awesome. A more compelling story though, more American in the realest way, is Jake’s real life rise-and-fall-and-fall-and-FALL to finally rise story that continues today. Check out the trailer for that story, coming to theaters this Fall.

(Chris Jericho, Edge, Diamond Dallas Page, Stone Cold Steve Austin… damn… even more commentary??? They KNOW Jake in the ‘rasslin biz!)

Throwback: Dave Chappelle In This 1990 ‘Spread The Word – High School HIV/AIDS’ Public Service Announcement (Video)

Okay, stop giggling. Dave really meant this. Trying to get down with a serious work on a serious topic. Thinking about where he was in his career when this came out, let’s say he succeeded on several fronts. Eventually finding his comedic lane to ride gave him a bigger voice for a much larger audience; but this shows that the actor/comedian already had a mind to say something of substance before he really got on. Watch.

Okay “Control Your Jimmy” is funny… but don’t bag on the man’s skills. You see he is not rapping today.
