9th Wonder At Harvard: “The Hip-Hop Fellow” (Trailer)
Slated for release next month, “The Hip-Hop Fellow” is a feature-length film documenting super-producer 9th Wonder’s time as a Harvard University professor, teaching “The Breaks†to a bunch of students of the Cambridge (Massachusetts) institution. 9th Wonder’s contribution is an awesome complement to Harvard’s Hip-Hop Archive (see our post on Nas being honored there). Each and together these are a blessing to the campus community and the world.
The trailer captures commentary and cosigns by Dr. Henry Louis Gates, Young Guru, Pete Rock, DJ Premier and more. This documentary is going to be a “don’t miss” to be certain. Watch.
He has the love for it. He has the drive for it. It’s always been in him. He’s the genius behind it. You know, it’s only right.
– Kendrick Lamar
R&B: Tiombe Lockhart – “Gone†(Produced By Eben D’Amico) [Video]
Okay, can we talk about the scenery for a sec? That breathtaking waterfall… falling all over that sumptuous Claudia that you will all fall for (or is that just us)? That needing to be said, “Gone†(produced by Eben D’Amico) is a serious piece of eclectic work aimed directly at the soul. The video, shot low grade with a high concept, is an excellent delivery vehicle. May as well call this new Tiombe Lockhart single a must get. And if you feel that way, go get it…here.

Jimmy Fallon x Lebron James – “Wastepaper Basketball” (Video)
A couple of things are clear by now. Jimmy Fallon (1) loves Hip-Hop (especially from the 1980s) AND (2) loves putting together surprise duet sketches that make jaws drop in the happiest reminiscing ways. This one above. A remake of “Basketball” by Mr. Kurtis Blow (uh-huh-huh-huh-huh)… that he calls “Wastepaper Basketball”… featuring NBA Champion Heat flown in from Miami… Lebron James! And yeah, they both flow on this. Click play and watch ’em play; and just try not to smile. Salute to The Tonight Show.

Comedy: Omar Epps stars as a ‘Hood Black Doctor’ (Video)
The only thing I don’t like about this ‘What The Funny’ comedic skit starring actor Omar Epps is that they named it ‘Black Doctor’. Of course we all should know there are thousands of black doctors that conduct themselves in a professional manner & Omar Epps has played a black doctor on television for 8 years, but I’m sure 80% of ‘black doctors’ would be offended so I took the liberty to alter the title a little bit to ‘Hood Black Doctor’. Maybe I’m taking this all a little too serious I guess, although the scene in this skit with actor Laz Alonzo made me chuckle out loud though. Other than that try to laugh away….
