Dear #BurnYourNikes Movement, Nike Doesn’t Mind At All (Video)

If you feel like wasting some keystrokes, comment on the next vid you see posted by a ‘Nike burner’ that Nike doesn’t give not one aglet about #BurnYourNikes

(Oh, and an ‘aglet’ is that sheath or tip at the end of your shoelace. You knew that? Okay cool.)

See, this whole ‘we stand by Kaep‘ stance Nike is putting forth is still a BUSINESS move at its core. We know that, right? Right?? It’s a business move that folks (read: the majority of people that Nike wants to buy its products) who are cool with #TakeAKnee will vote in favor of… with their purchasing power.

This is why Nike doesn’t care if you set your shoes on fire.
– VICE News Tonight

Just like choosing to ‘vote’ for (buy from) Burger King because you like your burgers flame-broiled, or your way, or whatever the other fast food joints ain’t doing. Or vice versa.

And for folks who decide to NOT buy from them anymore, Nike is wagering (i.e. taking a strategic business risk) there will be few enough of them to not matter (to its BUSINESS). Buuuut… all this could make for some cool counter-hashtaggery to make the new ‘Nike haters’ hot though…

#KaepHatersDontMatter

Nah…

Season 3 Premiere Of Vice’s Skateboard Culture Docuseries: ‘King Of The Road’ (Full Episode) [Video]

CRAAAZY! I just stumbled across this. Watched. Can’t say I fully understood, but I was fully engaged. Folks on a skate trip of a lifetime, shredding rails, shedding blood, and other gnarly and ‘bro’ stuff… all while trying to win bragging rights (and MONEY) as ‘Kings Of The Road.’ Just winning at life, man. This crazy life.

The race starts in Reno with a relay. Evan crushes while Glick gets stage fright. The Books are handed out and Foundation ends the night with a tender moment at a wedding chapel.

See How Replica Sneakers Made In China Make It Into The Hands Of U.S. Buyers (HBO)

Wow! The fiends NEED the latest Yeezys and Jordans like this bad? The fake kick market is kicking this hard. Gotta be if there is a black market with movers in it like Chan, right? Let VICE News tell it…

After the sun sets in Putian, thousands of bikes carrying fake sneakers hit the streets.

The lace-up black market is no secret in Putian, and it’s where you can find Chan, a vendor with a knack for getting high-quality pairs off the streets and into the hands of hypebeasts on the other side of the globe.

Soaring Sex Toy Sales In South Korea (Documentary)

Hmm. Surprising that this is just starting to blow up as an industry over there. Sex and all things naughty-naughty sell and sell well. The level of regulation and societal taboo to counter it must have been tremendously stifling. Still likely is, but looks like things are loosening up (insert your own ‘dirty jokes’ here).

Sex toy stores are opening up all over South Korea and customers have been flocking to them. In the past, the few adult stores that existed were hidden behind tinted glass and filled with dirty or outdated toys. Now times are changing and sex is becoming more visible to the mainstream.

But more access to sex toys doesn’t negate South Korea’s many sexual taboos and the lack of sex education and industry regulation.

For The NYC Title, Brooklyn Tech’s Team Will Step In The Arena (Documentary)

If you cannot wrap your head around ‘step team’ as a sports/athletic activity, look at this and reconsider. Just saying. They go in as hard as any team on the court (or anywhere else).

You won’t find the most successful team at Brooklyn Technical High School on the basketball court or on the football field. You’ll find them stepping in the cafeteria – sweating, laughing and striving to keep their crown as NYC’s regional champions. In this VICE Sports exclusive, we met up with the all-female Lady Dragons step team to see their pressure-packed final days of preparation for NYC regionals.

Changing The Game: Lacrosse Comes To Harlem (Video)

Up top, it’s all about the blacktop. The lyric, “Basketball is my favorite sport,” not lacrosse… right? Well, these kids are into it AND it’s helping them level up to a better shot in life.

Basketball courts may still dominate north of 125th Street in New York City, but more kids than ever are taking up lacrosse as their sport of choice. We followed Javon to hear what his friends think about lacrosse and how he plans to make his mark on the game.

Lifestyle: You’re In Los Angeles. You’re High. What Do You Do Next? (Video)

A weed travel show. Excellent idea! And an appropriately laid-back episode to boot.

On VICE’s weed travel show ‘BLUNT REVIEWS,’ we trek to places where weed is legal to review things a cannabis-consuming tourist can do while they’re stoned. On this episode, VICE’s Darlene Demorizi spent a day getting blazed in Los Angeles, where she cured her munchies at Pink’s Hot Dogs, a historic restaurant that tops franks with guacamole and nacho cheese. Then she unwound at Lit Yoga, a THC-friendly studio, and stopped by Puff Pass & Paint to make a little art over a glass of CBD-infused wine.

SlamBall, Born In The USA, Has Been Reborn In China (Documentary)

Just to review, or introduce… SlamBall is a bouncy-bouncy version of basketball played on floors with embedded trampolines to facilitate super-high leaps and bounds. As described in the above doc vid, the game is pretty ‘video gamish’ and due to business and sports culture trending downfalls, SlamBall got ‘slammed’ in the U.S. However, it has found life in China.

“We never left, we just needed to take the best path for us,” says SlamBall’s creator Mason Gordon. After years with little exposure other than showcases and bar conversations between nostalgic fans, Slamball is now experiencing a resurgence in China. With a focus on bringing programs to universities before securing any TV rights, the sport is finding a foothold in a basketball-obsessed nation. VICE Sports traveled to China to check out the nation’s first facility and take in the scene.

Neil Holmes Might Be The Last Black Bull Rider In The South (Documentary)

In case you didn’t know, roughly a fourth of the cowboys of old were Black. Today though, the world of professional bull riding, a sport rooted in ranching culture, is predominantly White. And when Neil Holmes leaves… even more so.

On this episode of ‘MINORITY REPORTS,’ VICE sent Lee Adams to Texas to meet Neil Holmes and Ezekiel Mitchell—two Black bull riders at different points in their careers—to find out what it’s like as a person of color trying to make it in the predominantly White world of professional bull riding. Holmes—an accomplished pro on the eve of his retirement—explains how he got into bull riding and talks about leaving the sport as the only Black pro ranked in the top 100 bull riders. Desperately trying to fill Holmes’s shoes is Mitchell, who’s struggled with the funds to travel, and has experienced racism in the sport first-hand.

Being a White Student At A Historically Black College (Documentary)

“I feel like I belong here if I’m putting in the work. It’s that simple.”

Whew. When he asked dude, “Do you feel like you really belong here?” Tiago answered like that. VICE does it again! Really digs into this perspective of a White student attending an HBCU (Historically Black Colleges and Universities).

On this episode of ‘MINORITY REPORTS,’ we met up with Tiago, a White freshman at Morehouse College, an HBCU in Atlanta that counts Martin Luther King, Jr. and Spike Lee as alumni.

We sat down with him to hear why he decided to enroll in the school, asked his peers for their thoughts on having white students on campus, and followed along as he showed us what it’s like to be one of very few non-black students at school.

– VICE

Now, if you are even thinking about reducing this topic to ‘any student can go anywhere’… Let’s not waste your time. Come back in an hour or something. This is deep exploration like VICE documentaries do. Gonna stay? Okay, press play.

Indonesian Teenagers Making Fast Cash In Illegal Motorcycle Races (Documentary)

This is insane! Man, things youth do, thinking they are immortal and invincible. Plus, there’s the money. Definitely a risk vs. reward thing to do; these high-speed illegal street races. Faster & furiouser. Watch!

Motorcycles rule the streets of Indonesia. By day, the bikes zip through Jakarta, ferrying residents to and from work—but by night, the roads give way to the underground world of illegal street racing. Kids as young as 12 compete in the high-speed sprints, where riders can make a small fortune off a single race. The rewards are great, but the risks are just as high: Flying down roads at breakneck speeds, one, small mistake can cost a “speed jockey” their life.

On this episode of ‘VICE INTL,’ VICE Indonesia went inside Jakarta’s dangerous, high-stakes street racing scene. We met up with a 16-year-old rising star to hear how he got involved, talked to the cops cracking down on illegal drag racing, and checked out a sprint ourselves—watching as two teenagers faced off for more cash than most Indonesians make in a month.

Hollywood Sex Tape Broker (Documentary)

Wow. Point blank, like that. Kevin knows and declares that people in Hollywood do stupid things; like putting out sex tapes (or even making them, risking them getting leaked). Says he is the man to see if you want to release a celebrity sex tape… and the man to see if you don’t want a sex tape to see the light of day. In short, he’s the man…

VICE went to Los Angeles to meet Kevin Blatt, who’s now become Hollywood’s go-to guy when it comes to releasing or obtaining a celebrity sex tape. After releasing Paris Hilton’s ‘1 Night in Paris,’ Blatt’s been involved in sex scandals with A-list celebrities and was even an expert witness at the Hulk Hogan-Gawker trial. On this episode of ‘Fameish,’ he leads VICE through the underground celebrity sex tape industry, arguing that his business has done “more good for people than bad.”

Sports: Is Bill Preston Good Enough To Go From NCAA To NBA Basketball? We Will Never Know (Video)

I feel like, if I was still playing in college, I’d be much more successful.

Damn. Talk about a cultural upheaval. They didn’t like the way his transportation situation looked and the NCAA took Preston away from college basketball… and possibly his ticket to success in life for him and his family??? Wow.

Billy Preston should be playing with Kansas in the NCAA tourney right now. Instead, his career is in limbo because of an NCAA investigation that was never completed.

“The Camels Of Arabia” Tells A Story Of Traditions, Pride, And Million Dollar Prizes (Documentary)

VICE continues to bring us insight by focusing on what’s important. Want to learn about a people, focus on what is important… to them. “The Camels of Arabia” are VERY important. Watch and learn…

Camels are the Clydesdales of Saudi Arabia, venerated for their good looks, grace, and speed. Even as the country rapidly modernizes, the animals remain a central part of Saudi culture, and a lucrative one—with prized camels selling for more than $1 million.

VICE trekked to Al-Dahna for the King Abdulaziz Camel Festival—the largest of its kind—where titans of business and politics in the Middle East flock each year for a display of the finest camels in Saudi Arabia. Hundreds of participants pit their camels head-to-head in a frenzied race and beauty contest for a chance to win roughly $57 million in prize money, and a chance to meet Saudi Arabia’s king and crown prince.
