Fabolous – “Real One” feat. Jazzy (Video)
Yeaaah maaan. F-A-B-O is definitely not riding solo on this visual (warning: Eye Candy spotted)! Nice visuals by Loso for his “Real One” (featuring Jazzy) off “Summertime Shootout” (out now).
REKS – “Jump Shots” (Prod. By Buckwild) [Video]
The album REKS has been promising, “The Greatest X” (read: “The Greatest Unknown”), is looking & sounding really promising. Watch REKS flex and give a B.I.G. rhyme concept a stretch. Pure dopeness!
“Jump Shots” is a song that articulates in depth the idea made famous by Biggie Smalls, “either your slingin’ crack rock or you got a wicked jump shot.” Over an infectious head-nodder from Buckwild, assisted by a flawless cuts from Statik Selektah, REKS describes the limited options available to ghetto youth and the parallels between b-ball and Hip-Hop. A die-hard Boston Celtics fan, REKS states, “I actually grew up idolizing the Bad Boys’ Isiah Thomas on the ball court. His grittiness and fearlessness was admirable.”
Welp, consider this Boston’s basketball-meets-boom-bap contribution to the game this season – wicked “Jump Shots” on deck.

Wow, and o-m-g if that ain’t Trina’s sexy azz in there, she’s a hella good candidate for The Baddest Chick title!

Cenk Uygur Speaks On How Muhammad Ali Should Truly Be Remembered (Video)
Muhammad Ali… He was a strong, proud Black man and he didn’t mind telling you…
– Cenk Uygur
Powerful! Cenk Uygur gives us 5 minutes of RAW commentary to set (or keep) perspectives straight on the legacy of Ali. Don’t let all the soft, lofty words now being spoken about The Greatest in this time of mourning make you think Ali was whitewashed or weak (or even worried about being ‘liked’) in any way at any time in his life.
Muhammad Ali has been described as transcending race, but that takes away from his powerful stance on being a Black man. Cenk Uygur, host of The Young Turks, delivers his Final Judgment on Muhammad Ali’s legacy.
It is important that for all the ways that Ali should be remembered – winning fighter, charismatic public figure, ambassador for peace and justice – we must NEVER forget that Ali was NOT living to win approval from the majority. As much a warrior out of the ring as in, he spoke harshly on injustices perpetuated by America and the White majority in the U.S. and abroad; refusing to be part of or tacitly endorse it in any way.
Good to keep that straight.

Atlanta (Series Trailer)
This is a trailer you have to feel, more so than understand, to get… really get. Seems like it might be a departure from his gig on “Community” (the sitcom from NBC a while back).
It’s Atlanta. FX’s new original series starring Donald Glover begins this September. Starring and created by Donald Glover, Atlanta revolves around two cousins on their way up through the Atlanta rap scene whose opposing views on art versus commerce, success and race will make their quest anything but easy.
Yep, Donald Glover might well bring some of that Childish Gambino vibe to the TV screen.

Radical Life of The First Lady of New York (Video)
Wowwwww! So THAT’S how Broadly is gonna start this episode on The First Lady of New York? Click play and you’ll see. Don’t misuse this 10 minutes of your day…watch this clip! Starts with shocking (for some) commentary, but gets into some frank and earnest discussion with Chirlane McCray over a variety of societal issues.
Broadly sits down with Chirlane McCray in Gracie Mansion to talk media scrutiny, sexual fluidity, breaking down the stigma around mental illness, and having radical politics in one of the nation’s oldest houses of political power.
When you hear ‘First Lady’ you think Michelle Obama, of course. But McCray has some real things to say. This clip may well make you add her to your short list.
(Sexual fluidity. Okay, gotta add that to the vocab.)
Candid Camera Classic: Ali Meets the Kids (Video)
If it is possible to run across an ‘Ali hater’ in this time of remembrance of The Greatest, SHOW THIS VIDEO!
Muhammad Ali made several appearances on Candid Camera. In 1974 he visited a school and allowed kids to “discover” him. Allen Funt narrates.
The Louisville Lip had no chill…larger than life, but accessible and obviously not shy about cutting up for the kids. Incredible classic TV clip that you may have seen. Worth watching [again].
Smile!

Ali: The Mission (Mini-Documentary)
Even before The Champ’s passing, you’ve probably heard about his nobility and heroism outside the ring. Given that, this 30-For-30 documentary short’s content may not shock you; but the story should warm your heart and make you miss him a little bit more.
Ambassador Ali. Fighting Parkinson’s all while winning over folks worldwide including Saddam Hussein; which was key. You’ll see why when you watch.
(Narrated by John Legend.)
