Bumpy Knuckles x DJ Wayne Ski – “DisGoEsOuT2U”

One thing you have to respect about Bumpy Knuckles is that he never bites his tongue.  He speaks on what he feels regarding Hip Hop, Labels, Artists and more.  It’s refreshing in this day and time where people spit subliminal all day and never speak their true feelings. Well guess what Bumpy Knuckles & Wayne Ski got some new heat and “This Goes Out To You” or as they say it “DisGoEsOuT2U” and it is a treat.  Shout out to Bumpy Knuckles & Wayne Ski for keeping it Boom Bap with dope lyrics!

Art & Music: The “787 Graffiti Ball” Visually Captured By Atlanta’s ‘Hometown Heroes’ (Video)

One thing about Atlanta is the range of events that happen here.  Whether it is a Hip Hop Show, EDM or the Ballet & Symphony. Or it could be a Falcons, Hawks, Braves game or NASCAR event.  Besides those well known events you have cool niche events like BonFire ATL, Elevated ATL and 787 Graffiti Ball.  The 787 Graffiti Ball recently went down here in Atlanta at 787 Windsor St.  An event where the first 250 people who RSVP’d got a free spray can for the event.

What is Graffiti Ball ? Well it is a night dedicated to the art of Scribbling, Scratching, and Defacing.  Not only is it a chance for the everyday person to do some graffiti without having to look over their shoulders for cops.  Some of the biggest and emerging aerosol artists are brought together ranging from NYC, Miami, and of course here in Atlanta.  One of the well known ATL artists represented was DR. DAX whose amazing work can be seen all around Atlanta.  This video recap was shot by HomeTown Heroes make sure you check out their site hometownheroesatl.com

On his debut album, “New York: A Love Story,” Staten Island, New York native Mack Wilds has a remake of a Michael Jackson classic, “Remember The Time” (produced by Havoc, of Mobb Deep, and Salaam Remi). Jam Master Jay’s son ‘TJ Mizell’ Spins On NYC’s ‘J’ Train (Video)

Among the things that might fill your heart with joy on a cold morning. Think of hopping the train on a typical NYC day… getting into the rail car that just so happens to be being rocked by TJ Mizell, son of the legendary Jason “Jam Master Jay” Mizell (of Run DMC fame). Yooo! TJ does a run of Jigga joints – including a Trap remix of “Tom Ford” (Benzi Remix) and “Show Me What You Got” (DJ Green Lantern Remix).

Keeping it old school, the man powers his equipment using a car battery (sorry, no streetlamp poles on the train)! Great vid.

Bumpy Knuckles x DJ Wayne Ski – “New York, Where You At?!?”

artworks-000055489109-1ymp51-t500x500

“Nine million rappers sharing one or two rhyme styles. Kill them n!ggas off. Triggas pulling off!”

Bumpy Knuckles

Timely. Probably not recorded with anything to do with Kendrick’s “Control” verse or any of the freestyles; but what Bumpy Knuckles would say is likely summed up in this “New York, Where You At?!?” Then again, Bumpy Knucks never needed another record to spark fire on his own records. More proof of that here: Bumpy and DJ Wayne Ski with a FREE download to keep us interested in the “Black Card” album’s ever pushed release. Check it out.

B.O.B. vs. Hot 97 NYC (Video)

I was one of the earliest supporters of B.O.B. in Atlanta & actively promoted him & his talent to anyone who would listen.  I’m still a supporter but this interview on Hot 97 brings up a serious issue amongst radio DJs that I can immediately identify with.

I’ve been in radio for 20 years & have interviewed many artists who have stopped by my radio show but most of the time when those artists get larger they never come back or send a thank you unless their careers are falling off & they are trying to reconnect with their original fans & supporters.

I never felt like B.O.B. was only reaching for a pop audience but I can understand 1000% what HOT 97’s program director Ebro is talking about because it happens all the time to me on the radio station I’m on.

What Does ‘Gender Parity’ Mean? Women ‘Go Topless’ and Demonstrate in NYC (Video) [NSFW]

maxresdefault

Above: Video of the ‘2012 Go Topless Day Rally’ In New York City. Started in 2007, the celebration and protest actually pushes an agenda of equal rights for the sexes in another way. Simply put, a breast is a breast – be it male or female. In fact, for the NYPD, ‘breast exposure is not considered public lewdness, indecent exposure, or disorderly conduct.’ In fact, the New York cops have been instructed to protect topless protesters like others marching for rights.

‘In 2007, Go Topless, a national organization supporting gender equality in shirtlessness laws, established Go Topless Day. Dozens of women protest – often topless – in thirty cities around the United States, promoting equal rights to be shirtless. Protests usually include chants of “Free your breasts. Free your minds” and a song “Let ‘em Breathe” to the tune of the Beatles’ “Let it Be.”

Harlem World: Dapper Dan (Video)

Opening a clothing store bearing his hood name on 125th Street in Harlem (New York), Dapper Dan found a way to become a Harlem legend while avoiding the street life’s perils in the 1980s. By designing streetwear in the early 1980s on par with luxury brands like Louis Vuitton and MCM, Dapper Dan began to secure his legendary status. A product of his environment, Dan’s first customers were people from his hood – Harlem’s hustlers and gangsters. Then, Dapper Dan’s grew – eventually outfitting rappers and other celebs of the time, who wanted to rock what the gangsters were wearing. With success came fame… and problems (particularly in the form of lawsuits from high-end competitors like MCM).

It has been a hell of a ride so far! Now, Dapper Dan, with childhood friend Pee Wee Kirkland, shares his Harlem World history in the video above.

Camp Lo x Ski Beatz – “Fort Apache” (EP)

Sonny Cheeba and Geechi Suede are back with another one! In choosing the title, “Fort Apache,” the Bronx emcees are no doubt referencing the infamous 41st Precinct of their burrow (the inspiration for the 1981 film Fort Apache the Bronx). Known for pushing the vanguard of Hip-Hop by infusing throwback vibes in their delivery, Camp Lo once again brings 70’s-to-early-80’s-inspired ghetto flow into the 21st century with unparalleled skill. Check Track 3 for proof of that (zoo-zoo-zoom). In addition, Camp Lo gave producer Ski Beatz “complete creative control” (get it? Nasty Nelson? from Boomerang?) of the beat-making for this six-song EP. Good choice. Good music. Check it out & the tracklisting below!
