Amy (Trailer)

Trailer for the new Amy Winehouse documentary, “Amy.” Critics loved it at Cannes Film Festival. We loved us some Amy (apparent by the posts on here). The doc goes into the lyrics, more than suggesting linkages between the movie and the singer’s tumultuous life in its slant… so much depth. Amy. Lost to the world at 27, but sure to be remembered by the world long, long after. Check this trailer out. In theaters July 3, 2015.

2 Chainz & R&B singer Jhené Aiko go visit a psychic on the latest edition of his GQ web series ‘The Most Expensivest Sh*t”. After watching the video it appears to me that the only thing that could accurately be predicted is that the psychic is going to get paid from a bunch of people who believe her & 2 Chainz looks skeptical. Checkout past episodes of 2 Chainz’s series below….

Bill Maher and panelists John Waters, Heather McGhee, Charles Murray and Michael Render – aka Killer Mike – discuss the criticism of Michelle Obama’s Tuskegee (home to our own @ojones1) speech and the underlying causes of the Baltimore riots (above).

“…Why are you burning down your own community? [We] burned down a community that [we] don’t own!”
Killer Mike

Bam! Folks don’t destroy what they truly own. Makes sense, right? Mike always does. Continue after the jump with more Killer Mike telling it like it T-I-’tis (like the elders say) – especially about Bill O’Reilly – on HBO’s Real Time With Bill Maher. Also have the bonus show, Overtime, embedded after the jump.

Kendrick Lamar Recognized as A ‘Generational Icon’ on the California State Senate Floor (Video)

Well Kendrick Lamar continues to win in 2015.  His critically acclaimed album “To Pimp A Butterfly” is selling like Rap albums did back in the 90’s and has helped to reinvigorate the conversation about doing a complete work rather than just catchy singles.  Now add to the list he has been recognized as a “Generational Icon” by the California Senate and was awarded on the Senate floor.  This was organized by fellow Compton native Sen. Isadore Hall III who introduced Kendrick to the Senate Floor and presented the award.  Kendrick along with his fiancee Whitney Alford were there to accept the award and thank the Senate for the distinguished honor.

Scarface Speaks Out On Police Brutality (Video)

“I feel like we’re being hunted…and I’m not cool with it.”
Scarface

At HuffPost Live mainly to promote his book “Diary of a Madman,” Face gets into other topics as guided by interviewer Marc Lamont Hill. You know, Scarface (born Brad Jordan) makes some enlightened points here. And some in an impassioned way. But even when using his outside voice inside, truth is truth. Hear him speak on, among other things, police brutality.

Most interesting: FaceMob KNOWS his ‘mob’ (his people, his fans) will ride – just because he says to when he says. And instead of taking the not-a-role-model stance, he refrained from saying what he really wanted done about police abusing their power. Plus, it was smart not to ‘scare away’ potential readers of his book by getting too real to fast (e.g. let them get shocked…later…by reading the book).
