Chris Rock Says Kanye West’s ‘MBDTF’ Is Probably The Best Album In The Last 25 Years (Video)

Social media has been abuzz about Chris Rock’s recent statements in a promo interview for his new film ‘Top 5’ when he made statements about Kanye West’s now classic My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy’ album. Chris Rock says stated that he believes that Kanye’s ‘MBDTF’ album could probably be the best album over Michael Jackson’s iconic Thriller’ album & the best album overall in the last 25 years. I don’t know if I can say the impact was greater than Michael Jackson’s ‘Thriller’ album, but Kanye West is this hip hop generation’s equivalent to Michael Jackson in so many ways. The difference is that Kanye West does indeed make popular records that also make you think. I know Kanye West is the most popular hip hop artist in the world today, but I’ll also add that he’s also one of the most important artists in the last 10 years or more.

pusha-t-kanye-west-lunch-money-lead

Don’t know where this “Lunch Money” song is going for certain. Rumor mill says the “King Push” LP is a good bet. Know where it came from though. Pusha T … and Kanye West on the beat. And we know what it is …. G.O.O.D. Music. Lis-sennn!

Kanye West Rocks ‘AAHH! Fest’ (Chicago) [Video]

It’s been said, “You can’t be a hero in your hometown.” Don’t know how many times it was said to Kanye West. No one is saying it now. Check out Kanye doing a full set at the AAHH Fest in Chicago. Common put it on. Gonna be an annual thing. Only right he joins Yeezy on stage for the shut down song, “Get ‘Em High.”

First Comes Love, Then Comes Marriage…Then Kim Kardashian Comes To Sit On The ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’ Couch And Talk About It (Video)

Jimmy Kimmel Live! welcomes the Yeezus [Dime]Piece… Kim Kardashian (the Armenian formally known as Mrs. West). She and Jimmy discuss her and Kanye West’s recent wedding event. KimYe did it like no other. Everyone we know books a location months (up to more than a year) in advance of the wedding day; but the soon-to-be-Wests just went from France to Italy as a site like that. And guests still made it! And your folks probably get a photographer, but do you get photography from the likes of Steve McQueen? Outside of this being a press-worthy event, Kim and Kanye seemed to have done their best to make marital memories that will last them a lifetime.

Whatever you feel about how important it is to “Keep Up With…” any Kardashian, you should watch the interview clips (starting above; continuing after the jump). The chat is light and lively. Lady Kim is as demur and lovely as any blushing bride… You get a feel for Kim as a person rather than a paparazzi target; even amid the silliness that is Kimmel.

Cover Story: Common And Kanye Part Ways Musically, And It’s All ‘GOOD’ (Video)

Well, we just posted on Busta Rhymes’ leaving Cash Money. Now, there’s another shift in the Hip-Hop cosmos…G.O.O.D. Music bids adieu to Chi-Town’s Common. Similarly, the rap titans (Kanye West and Common) have apparently parted on good terms; no animosity in Common’s commentary about the subject.

‘Ye is my brother. Point-blank, business-wise, it wasn’t like…‘Ye wasn’t really like ‘Okay, let’s go do this. Let’s go do this album.’ It was like, ‘I’m ’bout to go do this album, ‘Ye. We friends, but if you ain’t really trying to…but if we ain’t gonna create together, it’s all good. We still brothers.’ I think his focus was somewhere else…Marriage, life, good places…I cherish our friendship more than music. I’m grateful for the music we did…
Common

Good scoop by HipHop DX. Check out the RapFix interview clip above. Good seeing brothers wish the best to each other; whether together or on their own. Part of being grown.

Kanye West – Live At The Wireless Festival 2014 (Video)

Turns out they did celebrate on the 4th of July in the UK this year… likely due to Kanye West being over there to rock at Finsbury Park, London. Some older and current jawns brought to the mass of worshippers gathered to watch Yeezus deliver his litany of hits at this year’s Wireless Festival. Nowadays, with all the mobile and camera tech folks bring, isn’t every festival ‘wireless’ (just saying)?

Bigger question: What was going on with the girl in the red dress near the beginning (above)? Did she pass out or something? Incredible show, and that was just the beginning. More crowd’s eye view footage after the jump.

Kanye West’s New Testament (Mini-Documentary)

Dave Chappelle Talks about His first Encounter with ‘The Roots’, Meeting Rising Star Kanye West, Upcoming Shows And More (Video)

Hahaaa! She thought Dave Chappelle was ‘a lost Root.’ Hearing Chappelle’s new stories about back-in-the-day stuff lets us know he’s still got plenty in the comedic tank. And it’s so effortless for him. The whole ‘Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon clip is funny, but don’t be drinking anything when you’re playing the part about Dave’s first encounter with Kanye in the latter portion of the above clip.

Fair warning…

(More footage, from the top of the interview, after the jump.)

Future – “I Won” featuring Kanye West

I got an opportunity to attend the private listening party for Future’s upcoming sophomore album “Honest” that was held at Halo Lounge and hosted by Epic Records last Wednesday.

Appearances by DJ Don Cannon, DJ Drama, T.I.’s wife & former member of R&B group Xscape ‘Tiny’, R&B singer Nivea, Ebony Steele, Shay Johnson and all affiliates of Future’s camp attended.

The only person that was missing that everyone was expecting to see was Ciara.

Future performed all of the songs on the “Honest” album including the upcoming single, “I Won” featuring Kanye West.

Although Future and Kanye are engaged to some of the most beautiful women in the entertainment industry and are highly publicized in the spotlight, it’s no surprise that these two artist would team up on the track.

The track captures a personal moment that both share in common with their fiances. Future and Ciara are expecting their first child together and this month West and Kim Kardashian grace the cover of Vogue with an inside feature of baby North. Also Kardashian and Ciara have posted pictures on social media and have known to call each other “BFFs”. It was only a matter of time that the fathers of their children would collaborate together.

Throughout time, the title, “trophy wife” also known to many as a “gold digger” has been frowned upon due to the negative and derogatory meaning society has labeled it to be.

According to the Associated Press Future expresses the song in a positive direction.

“When you have songs like that, they empower women,” he said. “I just feel like I want to big up women just in general, from my lady to his lady, to all women, to make sure they get their light on them and just knowing they’re important.”

West also served controversy on a sliver platter by concurrently dissing Kris Humphries and Reggie Bush.

“I made it over NBA and NFL players, so every time I score it feels like the Super Bowl.”

West not only raps about his soon to be wife but he also drops a verse mentioning Kardashian’s sisters.

“You could look at Kylie, Kendall, Kourtney and Khloe. All your mama ever made was trophies, right?” said West.

The music video for “I won” will be directed by Hype Williams. In the meantime, checkout the track.

Kanye West – “Black Skinhead” (Flying Lotus & Thundercat Remix)

artworks-000065004711-9n7x9w-t500x500The original Yeezy production – “Black Skinhead” – already went out of bounds (BOUND!) and crossed genres (and lines) on its own. Now… let Flying Lotus get in there with an instrumental, and Thundercat clown on it. Seems like we ought to call it more than a remix. Let’s call it damn good and get to playing and replaying it instead of wasting time trying to describe the indescribable, alright?

KANYE WEST – BLACK SKINHEAD (FLYING LOTUS & THUNDERCAT REMIX)

Minister Louis Farrakhan Supports Kanye West’s Socio-Political Comments In The Media (Video)

I’ve gotten into recent debates with people about Kanye West’s statements on entertainers having control of their work & more specifically the Arsenio Hall show analogy he used when he appeared on The Breakfast Club on Power 105.1 in New York.  People were quick to applaud Arsenio Hall’s response to Kanye West about what the real reason Arsenio’s late night talk show went off the air years ago, but most many have forget that it was Minister Louis Farrakhan who stated multiple times the reason why Arsenio show was threatened. In fact, when Minister Louis Farrakhan appeared on one of the very last episode’s of the Arsenio Hall Show he even said it to Arsenio’s face. Minister Louis Farrakhan also recently expressed his support for Kanye West after he’s been taking heat from various groups in speaking out on a number of issues affecting the black community.  Arsenio made a comment that Kanye West should never used the term ‘Slave’ as an artist, but he never addressed that back in the 90’s when Prince changed his name to ‘The Artist Formerly Known As Prince’ & performed with “Slave” written on his face years ago protesting the same economic issues facing creative artists. Arsenio is largely to blame for Kanye or anyone of us confusing the “facts” because Arsenio never addressed Louis Farrakhan or his fans when he had the opportunity & platform to do so years ago.

The Army & Navy Used Kanye West & Justin Timberlake As Inspiration For Their Annual Football Rivalry (Video)

Artist Tosa Brooks snapping over an instrumental reproduction (by Crsxh) of Kanye West’s “Blood on the Leaves” to amp the West Point footballers (aka Army) for one game and one goal…

“Beat Navy!”

Too bad hype videos don’t win games, as the Navy Midshipmen (of the United States Naval Academy) rolled 34-7 over the Army Black Knights for the 12th year in the row. Nice job though, Tosa. Maybe next year, Army.

So, how many of y’all wonder if Navy did a video. Heh heh, check after the jump. It’s al-riiighht. Hahahaaa!

Kanye West Stops By Sway In The Morning To Talk About A Life Without Boundaries (Video)

Willy Wonka didn’t stop making chocolate because he started making other things… People want to marginalize me from the top all the way to the bottom…It’s people who just want to hear the music that are like ‘don’t work on nothing else ’cause we love your music so much’…”

Kanye West on ‘Sway In The Morning’

The “Yeezus” Tour is Kanye’s demo tape… his stage play… movie. And that’s just the musical expansion. Above: Kanye West talks to Sway In The Morning about the music, his mentors, his messages, fashion and more.

Brands, boundaries, borders… they do NOT fit Ye. Don’t try it! Try to follow the conversation though. Interesting insights from the man and mogul about music and much more.

Word to the wise: Adjust your ‘focus’ around the 14-minute mark so you can understand how things go OFF THE RAIL! The brothers work it out though. Just don’t try to turn up on Sway either. Just saying Ye.

Think that’s something? Check out the Power 105 Breakfast Club appearance (after the jump).
