A R&B version of “Illmatic” though? That’s how Mack Wilds describes New York: A Love Story …DOPE! Interesting convo above. So interesting, you will ache realizing how fast the time flies while watching.

Shia LeBeouf’s ‘Off The Top Of The Head’ Freestyle Proves He’s Better Than Many Mainstream Rappers (Video)

Even I stood up like “DAMN!” watching actor Shia LeBeouf murder this off the top of the head freestyle.  Why are so many mainstream rappers garbage with no skills & actors like Shia LaBeouf can come through & further embarrass them? Crazy

Joel Ortiz, Nitty Scott And Bodega Bamz Speak On How They Formed ‘No Panty’ And More (Video)

Wow. Sway looks at the this No Panty move through a spitter’s lens; not even considering that Joel Ortiz, Nitty Scott & Bodega Bamz are all Latino spitters! Check out the Sway In The Morning interview of new super-group No Panty. Get deeper in depth with all that.

When Salaam Remi calls, you answer. First reaching out to Joel Ortiz about his idea to put together some Latin SPITTERS, it was a no-brainer to bring Bodega Bamz and Nitty Scott in that conversation. Introducing: NO PANTY. A new group spitting BARS while still conserving the Latin culture. Watch above and grab their new project “Westside Highway Story.”

Common Kills With This ‘Sway In The Morning’ Freestyle (Video)

REAL emcees keep a sharp sword; lyrical weapon ready and ready to pull it. Like Common. Have you seen the freestyle dude did on Sway In The Morning? Maaaaan! Maim-murder-death-kill with lyrics over a classic smooth boom-bap instrumental track. The flow feels so good, Com can barely contain his energy!

Common’s influence has paved the way for so many artists including Kendrick, J. Cole and Lil Bibby, so when he freestyles you can hear pieces of him they’ve incorporated into their own music.

Joining us this morning he spit a crazy freestyle around the topic of the American Black Film Festival. Common flows smooth as ever as he drops names of influential black role models as well as mentioning things black people have had to fight against.

Lyric Jones On The ‘Sway In The Morning’ Friday Fire Cypher (Video)

Got to be the first time, in at least a long time, that every comment on a YouTube page was praise for the home slice Lyric Jones. All deserved, because she did rep the ATL well in her latest Sway In The Morning clip. Check out the chitter and the chatter. Warning: Dope freestyle above!

Jadakiss Speaks On The ‘T5DOA’ Album, On Ghostwriting For Diddy And More (Video)

Baallliiiinnn! Jadakiss brought the bust from the Barclays. As promised in the headline (and as you’d expect with “Top 5 Dead Or Alive” nearing its November 20, 2015, release date), we have Jadakiss promoting his forthcoming album in his interview on Sway In The Morning.’ Oh, and on ghostwriting for Diddy… not Jada’s fav thing to do.

But that still leaves the ‘And More’ part, doesn’t it? How about a dope azz freestyle? Yeah, nice right? Riiight. Catch that after the jump.

Paris Speaks On His History With Sway, Hip-Hop Then & Now And More (Video)

Make way for a Hip-Hop PANTHER… P-DogParis… arguably one of the most revered & feared (depending on what side of his commentary you fall). Above, a dude he has been down with since way back, Sway, is giving Paris the platform to speak his truth. And he will. Sway and Paris talk about the music and grind back in the day, views on government (USA), on the evolution of Hip-Hop and more.

Did you know Paris holds multiple college degrees? Did you know he did a bid in the ‘corporate’ world for a while? Did you know Paris’ “Pistol Politics” album is out now? At least one of those answers should be ‘yes’ off jump (link to album in earlier post below). Raise your score to 3 out of 3, and learn lots of bonus stuff, by watching the insight-filled interview above.

Hip-Hop… played a large part in raising my awareness… Contrary to what’s going on right now, the exception to the rule was foolishness, back in the day. And now the exception to the rule is anybody talking some sense.

Pioneer Supermodel Beverly Johnson Talks About Being Drugged By Bill Cosby, A One Night Stand With Mike Tyson And More (Video)

Okay, she is there because she is promoting a book. But c’mon son… you KNOW Sway would ask about what she said about The Coz and the druggings (being that Beverly Johnson was one of the first to affirm that Bill was dropping ’em with the drinks… allegedly). And the book is chock full of ‘Scandal’ level messiness besides that – rivalries between models, messing with that ‘white girl’ (e.g. cocaine), Mike Tyson… Verrrry interesting.

From being the first Black model on the cover of Vogue to building an international empire, the lovely Beverly Johnson stopped by Sway in the Morning to talk about her new book, The Face That Changed it All: A Memoir.

AUTOGRAPHED BOOK: BEVERLY JOHNSON – THE FACE THAT CHANGED IT ALL: A MEMOIR

Scarface Speaking On Being ‘Deeply Rooted’ In Independent Music, His Best Album Ever And More (Video)

Scarface is definitely a citizen of The Universe… and a recent guest on Sway in the Morning. Good candid convo, as we have come to expect from BrotherMob’s interviews. Dropping “Deeply Rooted” on September 4, 2015, the talk around the web will likely be, at least in part, on how the work is guaranteed to be ‘real’ or ‘less commercial.’ Again, isn’t that also what we have come to expect from Uncle Face. He’ll touch on that aspect above as he speaks on ‘the best work he has ever done.’

Big talk… But real talk. Along with him admitting imitation-flattery of Chuck D’s style (and to being a crazy FANatic when it comes to PE’s “Black Steel In The Hour Of Chaos”), likening his Geto Boyz to N.W.A. (maybe even a movie coming of it, similarly. Hmmmm). All that and so much more in the interview above.

King Los Kills his Freestyle on Sway In the Morning (Video)

There was a time when if you were a rapper and you went on a Hip Hop Show guess what you did?  You would actually go on there and Rap, Freestyle at worst kick a written verse just perform at least.  This is not the case today it is not required or asked of to have artists get busy on the mic.  Sway who hosts Sway in the Morning on Sirius radio keeps the tradition alive by having emcees do what he calls the 5 fingers of death.  Where he changes up the beat and periodically throws out words that the emcee has to keep the freestyle going based off those words.  He had King Los stop by and it’s safe to say that Los snapped during this segment.  Successfully completing the 5 fingers of death and continuing to freestyle acapella for an additional two minutes on his own.  This had Sway talking his talk about wack excess along with Heather B! Pick up King Los new album God, Money War out now on iTunes

Wack emcees stay home with your broke baby mother who can’t buy you a movie screen for your video games N@!*A – Heather B

Fabolous Freestyles, Reminisces With Sway And More (Video)

Fabolous comes back home… as far as Sway in the Morning is concerned. Sway’s very first guest on Sirius. Set the tone for what the Show was all about. Loso was grateful for the love, and hit the Show with a freestyle.

Adult Star ‘Asa Akira’ Speaks On How She Prepares For A Film, Oral Sex, Views on Incest, & Her Book (Video)

Come through, show some tit, talk about how you do (or how to prep for getting poked in the doo-doo)… You know it’s another day for Sway, Tracy G, and their sexy guest Asa Akira. You know how ‘real talk’ can sound so unreal BUT you gotta keep listening? Well, you will when you click play. It all starts with Tracy G’s intro (some real… umm… admiration by Tracy G). Asa explaining to Sway about all it takes to ready her a**hole for extreme penetration… It’s crazy.

WHOA! Have you seen it? What broke the Internet? Check after the jump. Say what you want: Kim K got dat azz (or, nowadays, Kanye got dat azz… put a ring on it)! But she did a lot of chit chat with Sway on his morning show a while back, too. Above and after the jump.

DJ Quik Tells ‘Sway In The Morning’ About His Days With Tha Row, About Music Through The Ages And More (Video)

Quik is the name. And if anyone can tell you about the game, esp. Hip-Hop on the West side, it’s DJ Quik. He stopped by to chop it up with Sway In The Morning,’ talk about music back in the day (his and others’), music now (his, collabos), and even turns in a live performance.

(And on some real real… lean in around the 26-minute mark… just saying.)

Cover Story: Common And Kanye Part Ways Musically, And It’s All ‘GOOD’ (Video)

Well, we just posted on Busta Rhymes’ leaving Cash Money. Now, there’s another shift in the Hip-Hop cosmos…G.O.O.D. Music bids adieu to Chi-Town’s Common. Similarly, the rap titans (Kanye West and Common) have apparently parted on good terms; no animosity in Common’s commentary about the subject.

‘Ye is my brother. Point-blank, business-wise, it wasn’t like…‘Ye wasn’t really like ‘Okay, let’s go do this. Let’s go do this album.’ It was like, ‘I’m ’bout to go do this album, ‘Ye. We friends, but if you ain’t really trying to…but if we ain’t gonna create together, it’s all good. We still brothers.’ I think his focus was somewhere else…Marriage, life, good places…I cherish our friendship more than music. I’m grateful for the music we did…
Common

Good scoop by HipHop DX. Check out the RapFix interview clip above. Good seeing brothers wish the best to each other; whether together or on their own. Part of being grown.

‘Martin’ Cast to Reunite? Tichina Arnold Talks About That, Gets Some Dancing In And More (Video)

Great episode! The ever so sexy ‘Pam’ (from TV’s ‘Martin’) was talking to Sway Calloway that day. Sway in the Morning has Tichina Arnold talking about the possibility of a ‘Martin’ reunion and a lot more… like working it oooouuut Mary J. Blige style in an impromptu in-studio vibe dance battle with Heather B. I mean, love and respect to Heather B; but Tichina won that one (wow… did she ever win)!

“When in doubt, show your butt.”
Tichina Arnold with some post-dance off ‘advice’

Enjoy this interview. Beyond the looks, there’s a lot to admire about Tichina (like her work with the Lupus Foundation).
