Maya Angelou: ‘And Still I Rise’ (Trailer)
Miss Calypso? Really?! Wow…Had no idea. And it’s a good bet there will be much more stuff many of us did not know about the late great Dr. Maya Angelou in the forthcoming “And Still I Rise” feature. Watch the trailer above.
Dr. Maya Angelou’s legendary writings including I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings, Phenomenal Woman and On the Pulse of Morning are merely a few examples of how words can truly change the world. Although she is most well-noted for her poetry, Maya Angelou and Still I Rise celebrates her multiple talents including singing, dancing, filmmaking, academia and civil rights activism, how she inspired generations, pushed boundaries and never ceased in her long fight for freedom for all. Bob Hercules and Rita Coburn Whack’s extraordinary film seamlessly weaves the key messages of her poetry into the narrative of her life with rare archival footage, interviews and of course, recitals of her original works. Powerful, proud and prolific, Angelou’s story is one of true courage and creativity of a woman who fought for her beliefs and lived life to the fullest.

Shaquille O’Neal Says He Is Running For Sheriff In 2020 (Video)
Heeee’s Shaq The Sheriff… and who will be the dep-u-ty?
(Sing it like, “I Shot The Sheriff,” and it’ll make sense. Maybe.)
This is about bringing people closer together. You know, when I was coming up, people love and respected the police, the deputies. And I want to be the one to bring that back, especially in the community I serve.
– Shaquille O’Neal
Hmmm… Shaq has homes in Florida and Georgia (right here with us in Metro Atlanta). He’s been a deputy (honorary, but still) and even ‘policed’ Kevin Hart on ‘Real House Husbands’… soooo, like, he’s qualified sort of? Go on and watch. You know you are interested!

Well, go back to that post here… AFTER you watch what we have here above… because Titty Boi 2 Pointer is balling with the Big Leaguers again. And he is giving them enough to where the NBA’ers have to give him some talk back. Get ’em 2 Chainz. Rep the ATL well!
That tape –
Bonus behind the scenes trash talk from the pro-ballers after the jump. A whole other thing. Really good though.
73 Questions With Aziz Ansari (Video)
The 50 Cent “Grapefruit” joke and the Richard Pryor jokes launched into space… great answers; esp. on the fly. Plus, wanting to kill the ‘foodie’ trend (although, who doesn’t wanna be a foodie for real; or at least a guest on Action Bronson’s “F**k That’s Delicious.” Watch above for more rapid-fire interview responses. Cool and funny, with good Aziz insights.
On the eve of the Met Gala, “Master of None” co-creator Aziz Ansari makes us a smoothie while answering 73 unexpected questions. Aziz talks about his childhood crush on Elaine Benes, his displeasure with the term “foodie,” and tries to rank his favorite Kanye West albums.

Comedy: Aziz Ansari Diversifies ‘The Late Show’ (Video)
Mixing that Brown with that White… Not a good idea when drinking… but a GREAT idea when it comes to comedy and late night TV. Let the hilarity ensue as Aziz Ansari integrates Colbert’s show. Haaaahahaaa!
When Aziz is sitting next to Stephen, 100% of the people on “The Late Show” are from South Carolina, and 50% are not White. That’s progress!

Neil deGrasse Tyson Talks About The ‘Pale Blue Dot’ And Our Place In The Universe (Video)
I remember a show on TV growing up called “Big Blue Marble” that hinted at the smallness of planet Earth compared to the vastness of space; but it still referred to it as the ‘biggest marble’ in the game. But…BUT… watch modern science guy Neil deGrasse Tyson show us just how small our home is as a place in the universe… but still let us know that we are STILL special.

Hasan Minhaj (Of The Daily Show) Gives An Roast Epic Speech At The White House Correspondents’ Dinner (Video)
Ohhhhhh shhhheeeeeeeiiiit! I wanted to categorize this as comedy, but this is more. This is even more biting than mere satire; plenty of BITE. Don Rickles (RIP) level roasting of an entire room AND of The President… you know, at the WHITE HOUSE Correspondents’ event that they have EVERY year.
Daily Show correspondent Hasan Minhaj took full advantage of Donald Trump’s absence by taking aim at The President and his administration during his monologue at the White House Correspondents’ dinner.
– Global News
I’m sure it was on his calendar. But hell, I cannot blame him. Some of this sh!t BURNED, but it seems like everyone took it in stride. And I do mean everyone, because ‘The Daily Show’ Correspondent Hasan Minhaj gave a taste to EVERYONE: Not just the POTUS, but key officials in his Administration, with shots for Fox News, CNN, MSNBC, even C-SPAN (who broadcasts the event annually)!
You HAVE to watch, but strap up and sack up. Hasan is hella funny, but his speech hits hella HARD! Whew.

‘Close Range’ With Ray Allen (Documentary)
Very interesting tidbit from Ray’s wife in there: What do the ultimate competitors do when they retire? That fire has to go into something. Fortunately for the NBA ultimate shooter, Ray Allen is a golfer… with some competitive pro-athlete retirees that golf. GQ covers that and much more in such a short docu-series episode.
Ray Allen is a living legend. He’s a ten-time NBA All-Star who has won two championships, in 2008 with the Boston Celtics and 2013 with the Miami Heat. He holds the NBA’s record for most three-pointers made, with 2,973 buckets. Since his retirement in 2016, Ray has shifted his focus – to fatherhood, golf, and an organic fast-food restaurant. Take a look into the life of a champion, and his obsession with greatness.

Killer Mike And George Clinton Swap Stories At The SWAG Shop (Video)
Good conversation. And hella cool? Which part, you ask, is cool? That funk pioneer George Clinton and Killer Mike have a barbershop sit down? That they do it at Mike’s place – the SWAG Shop? That two legends still living the dream thought enough of us to film this realness?
Yes. All of that is hella cool. Watch!

She calls it ‘pizza’… that’s sweet. Daddies, hug your daughters.
Jay Pharoah Speaks On Leaving SNL, Remembers Charlie Murphy And More (Video)
Jay Pharoah wants you to know that he is ‘not a yes n!gga’ folks. Hear, in the interview above, the risky career situations where he says ‘no’ to things, how he ended up leaving Saturday Night Live and more. Interesting how he affirmed that they (SNL) attempted to pigeonhole him as the Black impressionist; then he tossed that Chris Rock impression right in there within minutes (then a smidge of President Trump later).
(Did Jay say he got ‘White famous’ around the 8-minute mark though? Hahaa!)
