Chris Rock Talks About “Top Five” And More On ESPN’s ‘First Take’ (Video)

How about that. “Top Five” is in the top five highest grossing films at the box office. Talk of Tinsel Town to be certain. Here we have Chris Rock talking with the gang at ESPN’s First Take about the movie, some favorite athletes, use of the n-word and more. Made a quick pass at the lovely co-host, too. Ha! Chris ain’t slick…

New Orleans’ NBA Franchise Should Change Name To “Scorpions” While Anthony Davis Is Becoming A Star (Video)

It’s no question that Anthony Davis is going to be a significant star in the NBA, but I just wish New Orleans would change the name of that dang franchise. I mean c’mon man…. The Pelicans?! I’ve said it on twitter several times over they should change the name to the “New Orleans Scorpions.” Ever since the Charlotte Bobcats changed their name back to Hornets they’ve had impressive sales & huge response from fans in the city. I believe if New Orleans would switch to “Scorpions” they would do the same. I know I spent too much time on this issue instead of Anthony Davis, but I just had to get it off my chest. Make it happen New Orleans

Jeremiah Camara Says ‘Blacks Screwed Up’ In Handling The Controversy Surrounding Former NBA Owner Donald Sterling (Video)

“As usual, Blacks were left with nothing but a moral victory…Donald Sterling was never the problem in the first place.”

After banning Donald Sterling from the NBA for life, there was much celebrating, specifically amongst African Americans, but in reality what was actually accomplished? As usual, Blacks were left with nothing but a moral “victory.” Black leadership, in an outside of the NBA blew perhaps the greatest opportunity to advance the conditions of African Americans since the so-called Civil Rights Movement.

Opinion: Yeah… About That Donald Sterling Tape (Video)

So, now y’all mad? Donald Sterling (owner of the NBA’s Los Angeles Clippers) has been racist! The question continues to be what are we going to do about it? The deeper question, asked by Jay Smooth in his rant above, is, when are we going to get mad enough to do something about the racist practices that generate injustice without generating TMZ clips? Hmm…great point. Thanks for the tweet, Jay.

‘The Tupac of Unreleased Racism Tapes’ presents “Here’s What They Think About You?” Now, THAT’S funny! Sterling… well, he’s just ridiculous. Watch the clip.

Michael Jordan’s Former ‘Dream Home’ Still Spruced Up For Sale (Video)

Michael Jordan is considered to be the greatest NBA player of all-time, but he also has the dubious reputation for not having the best sense of style. There are a dozens of news pieces, websites, facebook, instagram, & twitter pages with names like… “What The F*k is Michael Jordan Wearing.com?” poking fun at his fashion choices.  Even GQ magazine took shots at his style & taste after he was kicked out of a country club for his allegedly horrible choice of golf gear.  Some of the clothes he’s worn out in public have been so unintentionally ridiculous that I wouldn’t be surprised if his former Chicago dream home wasn’t any different. Michael Jordan has been desperately trying to sell this luxury home for years and had lowered his price in 2012 from $29 Million only to subsequently fail getting it sold at auction for a minimum of $16 million last December. If the interior of the home was anything like his personal fashion sense PRIOR to putting this home on the market & hiring some professional interior decorators, that could have been a huge reason why he hadn’t found a new owner sooner coupled with that still hefty asking price.

“I Am Philadelphia”: Allen Iverson Reflects on his Career with the Philadelphia 76ers (Video)

Last night the Philadelphia 76ers retired future hall of famer Allen Iverson’s jersey number & it was a special night in the city. It was clear that A.I. embraced Philly just as much as we embraced him. Allen Iverson was a high profile athlete who repped my hometown, but he was the personification of what being from Philadelphia was all about. Tough, hardworking, blue collar, & fearless.

Lebron James Does ‘Off The Wall’ Dunks During Miami Heat Practice (Video)

People keep complaining about Lebron James not participating in the NBA Slam Dunk contest year after year, but the league hasn’t exactly offered any attractive incentives for the best players to stay involved in it every year.  The winner of the contest only receives around $35,000. If I’m not mistaken, even the prize money is not worth getting involved.  At least when Blake Griffin won the 2011 NBA Slam Dunk contest he got a check from the KIA car company too from jumping over one of their vehicles.  Spoiled fans still panned Griffin’s efforts on social media despite what I thought was still an entertaining dunk.  My impression is that most of the people who are clamoring for Lebron to get in the 2014 NBA Slam Dunk contest are those who wish to see him fail anyway. If you’ve been following King James for a while you know he’s one of the illest dunkers ever in the NBA period. Check out the video above as Lebron drops some ill off-the-wall dunks during the Miami Heat’s recent practice in Phoenix and below I posted a reminder video of the skills of King James during a charity game for Chris Paul’s charity foundation in North Carolina.

President Obama Welcomes NBA Champion Miami Heat Back To The White House (Video)

“Welcome to the White House. Actually, for these guys, it’s welcome back to the White House.”
President Barack Obama

Very cool. If anyone knows how to celebrate even in the midst of hate, it’s our U.S. President. Oh, haters… Even you gotta celebrate these guys. The Miami Heat visited the White House for 2nd consecutive year. A two-time winner in his own right, watch President Obama’s full speech welcoming the champion basketballers back above.

Julius Erving aka ‘DR. J’ Says He Would Not Build An NBA Team Around Carmelo Anthony (Video)

NBA Hall Of Famer & former Philadelphia 76er Julius Erving stopped by ESPN2’s program ‘SPORTSNATION’ to talk basketball. When the topic of Carmelo Anthony & the NY Knicks came up, Dr. J didn’t pull any punches as to what’s wrong with the franchise.  I’ve said it many times before that “Dr. J” was Michael Jordan BEFORE ‘Air Jordan’ but ‘Dr. J’ didn’t always have the help he needed to win multiple championships. Michael Jordan is viewed by many people as the greatest to ever play the game, but it took Phil Jackson to convince him to slow down from being an aggressive scorer early in MJ’s career so that the Bulls could properly build around him. When asked if Carmelo Anthony is the right guy to build around in order for the Knicks to win one or more championships, Dr. J kept it honest that he didn’t have faith in Melo being the right guy.  I believe Lebron James is the greatest to ever play the game & he’s not even done yet, but the kid from Akron recognized early that he needed the proper pieces around him to solidify multiple championships in efforts to silence the critics & cement himself in the G.O.A.T. argument.

Lebron James Names His Top 4 NBA Players Of All-Time (Video)

Ah! The Force is strong with this one. Lebron James actually demonstrates the type of skill on the mic during interviews that one might expect of someone who is already a color commentator at courtside… or in the TV studio. Watch King James go through an “appropriate struggle” in naming his Top 4 NBA players of all time. Most noteworthy is who he left off the list. Hmmm…

NBA: 90 Seconds With Derek Rose (Video)

Chicago Bulls NBA star Derek Rose is set to return to the league following his severe knee injury & from the looks of CNN’s ’90 Seconds With…’ segment he’s supremely confident that’s he’s ready to go. The Chicago native when asked who’s the best player in the NBA right now he without hesitation let it be known that he was indeed the man despite some of the negative press he received for sitting out last season. Yes, confident is how athletes are supposed to be, but in a follow up question he did give a nod to the skill & dominance of “King James”.   Makes for an interesting matchup when their respective teams are speculated to meet again in October. I also like how Derek Rose mentioned Malcolm X as one of his life’s influences. I guess he’s applying the term ‘By Any Means Necessary’ in bringing an NBA championship back to Chicago.

JAYFORCE.COM EXCLUSIVE: A Visual Recap Of The Miami Heat’s Historic 2013 Back-To-Back NBA Championship & Game 7 Title Win

2013 NBA Finals JAYFORCE.COMAfter so much Miami Heat HATE, “King James The 4th” (MVPs) aka Lebron James & the Miami Heat have conquered once again for another back-to-back NBA championship. I’m blessed to have ‘witnessed’ & covered, in-person, Lebron’s first championship win back in 2012 & this year’s historic 2013 win over the San Antonio Spurs in the 2013 NBA Finals. After the Miami Heat’s historic 27-game winning streak this season, Lebron winning his 4th league MVP, & the rather eventful ‘Harlem Shake’ video, it was inevitable that this year would be nothing less than special in a myriad of ways. I had secured great seats not far from being courtside believing Miami would win it all in 6 games over the San Antonio Spurs, but when it was apparent there would be a game 7 I had to swap that out. My game 7 seats weren’t as great as my seats in 2012 or even my game 6 seats, but this was not at all bad considering there really aren’t any bad seating arrangements in Miami’s American Airlines arena to begin with. The sight lines were still very good & close to the action which was clearly visible from our seats. The most important thing was being in the building to witness history & to report on it. As the squad prepares for the 2013-2014 season in just a few months for a possible 3-peat, here’s the JAYFORCE.COM report & recap via tweets, pics, & with video of what took place in Miami before, during, & after the Heat pulled out a historic & classic game 7 win over the San Antonio Spurs.

Rick Ross and Son Bond Courtside at the Miami Heat v. Chicago Bulls Playoff Game 2 (Video)

Ballin’ at the ball game… courtside… BAWSE! Rick Ross and his son take in game 2 of the Miami Heat vs. Chicago Bulls game 2 of the NBA Playoffs. Ultimate gift: Dwyane Wade of the Miami Heat gives Ross’ son the shoes he wore in the game! That makes it a rather historic & special event for a young kid I’m sure he’ll never forget. As the series heads back to Miami tomorrow with the team up 3-1 on the Chicago Bulls it looks like my favorite team the Miami Heat are closer to another historic run for an NBA Championship. Let’s go HEAT! #TEAMHEAT

Jalen Rose Explains How NBA Players Keep Wives & Girlfriends Separated At Games (Video)

Most of us have never lived the life of an NBA basketball star & its rare when you get some truly candid insight into the stuff that’s rarely ever talked about unless you speak to some of the players personally. (I’ve heard many interesting first-hand stories from NFL & NBA players I must say). While speaking with Bill Simmons on the Grantland podcast, former NBA star & current analyst Jalen Rose spoke on all the distractions that go on for NBA players. It goes without saying that some of the problems revolve around women. No matter the classification be it “wives”, “girlfriends”, “jump-offs”, or “road kill” they can all be uncomfortable distractions if you don’t know the rules & juggle them right. Hahaaaaa!

Slam Dunks: Jamal Crawford’s Between-The-Legs Alley-Oop To Blake Griffin (Video)

Last night I was in Philips Arena watching the Atlanta Hawks take on the Philadelphia Sixers in a rather uneventful win over the decimated Philly squad. When I eventually got home & turned on the television I was amazed at this ill between-the-legs alley-oop that Los Angeles Clippers Jamal Crawford supplied to his teammate Blake Griffin. This definitely should be counted as one of the best NBA plays of the year. Forget the Los Angeles Lakers…The Clippers are the new “showtime” in L.A. for real! Crazy!
