Scarface Speaking On Being ‘Deeply Rooted’ In Independent Music, His Best Album Ever And More (Video)
Scarface is definitely a citizen of The Universe… and a recent guest on Sway in the Morning. Good candid convo, as we have come to expect from BrotherMob’s interviews. Dropping “Deeply Rooted†on September 4, 2015, the talk around the web will likely be, at least in part, on how the work is guaranteed to be ‘real’ or ‘less commercial.’ Again, isn’t that also what we have come to expect from Uncle Face. He’ll touch on that aspect above as he speaks on ‘the best work he has ever done.’
Big talk… But real talk. Along with him admitting imitation-flattery of Chuck D’s style (and to being a crazy FANatic when it comes to PE’s “Black Steel In The Hour Of Chaos”), likening his Geto Boyz to N.W.A. (maybe even a movie coming of it, similarly. Hmmmm). All that and so much more in the interview above.

Bone Thugs-N-Harmony Talk About Their Career Beginnings, Their Time With Eazy-E And Their Suspicions About His Death (Video)
Bone Thugs-N-Harmony’s Krayzie Bone, Flesh-N-Bone and Wi$h Bone speak on their coming up, their relationship with the late gangsta gangsta and Ruthless Records CEO Eazy-E. We know the N.W.A. member died of complications from AIDS a couple of decades ago. Okay, check that. Bone Thugs ain’t quite convinced. Nonetheless, the Bone Thugs-N-Harmony keep building on a Ruthless legacy in honor of Eazy, owing their career success in large part to him. That said…
“Just rationally thinking, something had to go on…”
– Wi$h Bone musing on Eazy-E’s death mysteriously coming so suddenly
Much more in the video interview above. Watch.
Going ‘Off The Grid’ With J. Cole (Video)
Promo vid for a boots brand offering, J. Cole offers so much more here. The scenery, vibe and inspiration… feel it as Cole World comes to the old world Tuff Gong Studios. Hiking the Blue Mountains of Jamaica. Great look!
Throwback: Dave Chappelle In This 1990 ‘Spread The Word – High School HIV/AIDS’ Public Service Announcement (Video)
Okay, stop giggling. Dave really meant this. Trying to get down with a serious work on a serious topic. Thinking about where he was in his career when this came out, let’s say he succeeded on several fronts. Eventually finding his comedic lane to ride gave him a bigger voice for a much larger audience; but this shows that the actor/comedian already had a mind to say something of substance before he really got on. Watch.
Okay “Control Your Jimmy” is funny… but don’t bag on the man’s skills. You see he is not rapping today.
Comedy: Craig Robinson Performs “Chocolate Muffins” (Video)
Baaahahaaa! Watch this. Craig Robinson a fool! Caught this online video of him performing “Chocolate Muffins” on Late Night With Seth Meyers. Hilarity! Watch out ladies: Craig The Bakerman is gonna stir y’all up with that wooden spoon…

DJ Khaled’s New Restaurant Is ‘Finga Lickin’ In Miami (Video)
Wow… DJ Khaled… his new restaurant… Finga Lickin… soul food… Miami style… the Best! Looks delicious. But saying he doesn’t know who Food Network’s Guy Fieri is; wonder if that was a shot or a tactic. No matter. Look at what’s coming out of the kitchen, maaaan!
Aretha Franklin’s Unreleased Documentary ‘Amazing Grace’ (Trailer)
One of the most interesting things to come of the theatrical and commercial success of “Straight Outta Compton” is the explosion of discussions about the ‘next’ biopic. Some word has been floating about regarding a sequel to the N.W.A. biopic that focuses on Snoop and Tupac. Before that, there was substantial rumor mill grist generated by talk on a possible Public Enemy movie. Well… how about telling a story outside the rap genre? That TLC movie raised quite a ruckus, and that was a straight-to-cable work.
What say we consider a movie, more documentary-like, that was shot in 1972… edited and likely re-edited over the decades since… and set to surface at the 2015 Toronto International Film Festival (running September 10th to 20th)? It was billed as a ‘gospel concert’ movie for Aretha Franklin – constructed with extensive footage captured while Re-Re recorded her “Amazing Grace” album. Check out what was to be the trailer in 2010 above.
We will all just have to wait on the new new version. The world will get it when Toronto does.
Raekwon Describes His Hood Hero Character ‘King Kwon’ (Video)
Now Kendrick’s superhero character ‘Hardbody’ was dope, but The Wu Chef took it up a step. Raekwon described his hero persona, King Kwon, as the dude who is always around and always looking out. Armed with Hater Spray and the Upgrade Spray, King Kwon would stand ready to convert haters (or have his super partner Eraser Head ‘wipe them out’ if they’re suckas) and help out deserving folks in the hood who are trying to do for self. Cool premises and super teamwork. Nice! Enjoy this animation-enhanced episode of “Super…” featuring Raekwon.
Comedy: Meet The New HR Manager For ‘The Nightly Show’… Cam’ron (Video)
Larry Wilmore is going hard nowadays. The Nightly Show must protect itself from external AND internal threats to the brand. Moving to do so, he (chuckle) hires a new Human Resources manager to ensure no employee problems mess up the workplace culture or the Show’s rep. Larry will not get caught slipping like Amazon’s CEO did. And don’t worry, Killa Cam is highly qualified and motivated to ‘take care’ of personnel things as HR Manager.
Hilarious! Watch.
Comedy: Mike Epps Gives Action Bronson ‘The Ghostface’ (Video)
Baaahahaaa! Okay, ‘Day-Day’ is stupid!
“…don’t ask for no more of my donuts…NONE OF THAT SH!T…You’re like a big red leprechaun…you ate my snacks, Action…you done f#cked up…”
Mike Epps lampooned the beef-with-Bronson video Ghostface Killah posted weeks ago (in response to off-handed remarks Action Bronson made during an ESPN guest appearance). That was awkward. This is hilarious!
(More silliness after the jump.)
Kwame Talks About Writing ‘Poison’ For BBD, The Alumni, and Producing For Vivian Green (Video)
Kwame (aka K-1) must’ve felt his ears burning! Wasn’t I just saying how disappointing it was not hearing any movement on The Alumni? Well, Kwame talks about his movement in the Hip-Hop supergroup (Monie Love, Special Ed, Chubb Rock, Dana Dane and himself), and some of the things he is into nowadays. You know about Vivian Green? Kwame signed her and produces for her. And remember Bell Biv Devoe coming out with that back-in-the-day hit “Poison?” Kwame wrote that! Check out the clip above.

Ice Cube Talks About The N.W.A. Biopic. Black Thought And Questlove Talk About Cutting Class To Listen To N.W.A. (Video)
Hahaaa! Li’l Black Thought and Li’l Questlove were ditching school to bump that filthy Gangsta-Gangsta N.W.A. music. That’s right, the purists were had their ears on the gulley gritty sounds of Ren, Dre, Yella, Eazy and Cube back in the day. And oh damn, Cube is a guest on The Tonight Show, talking to Jimmy Fallon about the biopic “Straight Outta Compton.” Watch them trip… and take a quick memory lane trip in the above clip.

She’s Got Game: Meeting The Game (Episode 1) [Video]
Don’t think of She’s Got Game as ‘reality television’ (well, you can if you want). Think of it as The Game sharing his Eye Candy with you. For while he looks for love, we get to look over his foine azz choices. And remember, so do his friends…
…and this is a competition… meaning these ladies are all but guaranteed to hate on each other at some point. So, now you have VH1 trademark drama on deck. Use that as ‘cover’ for your ogling. Got the show’s premiere episode cued above for you to practice that.
(You can say something like, “Baby, why are they acting all wild and crazy and embarrassing themselves like that? Breastses and azz just wiggling and jiggling all over the place. And do you see what they are wearing? Wow. Let’s remember to watch for that when we rewind when we watch this again On Demand. Mm mm mm. Just trifling. Right, Honey? Honey… awww why you mad? What did I do now??! Just trying to spend quality time watching TV with you, and now you get salty.”)
Whew! Check for some snapshots after the jump. And altogether say, “Thank you, Game” (who is still rocking shows AND exec producing the show… meaning the player is still about business)!
