Consequence Says He Ghostwrote For Jay-Z? (Video)

Not Jay Hova. Nope. Maybe? If so, this is big! According to Bossip and others’ interpretations, Cons said on Power 106 that he and Kanye West actually came up with the verses for “Encore” off “The Black Album.” Is he saying that Jay wasn’t even involved in conceiving the rhyme? Is this a slip or shade? Most important to the Hip-Hop: Is it TRUE?

NPR’s music documentary series, “Noteworthy,” is up & running. Great treatment of its subjects. Kind of short, but you get good content on modern R&B-ster Miguel, the first subject.
Watch as host Jason King interviews Miguel at home. Discussion goes from the choice of wallpaper to working with Salaam Remi, to times and modes of inspiration to… Well, watch. It’s less than 15 minutes.

Here at Jayforce.com we love Music Festivals and discovering new talent. So I was invited to cover Secret Stages 2016 a Music Discovery Festival in Birmingham, AL. This is a two day festival with over 75 acts performing on multiple stages. One of the artists I was looking forward to was Lando Chill a young talented Rapper, Singer, Songwriter. He is Chicago born and raised now living in Tuscon and recently signed with Mello Music Group. I caught up with him before his show and discussed his style, inspiration and putting new album out. I also have some live footage of his showcase that I caught while in Birmingham. His new album just released today “For Mark, Your Son” on Mello Music Group available on all digital outlets. I had the pleasure to discover him and his music after this interview you will want to discover more of his music as well.

Fashawn Joins Snoop Dogg On ‘GGN’ (Video)

Brick City All Day!! It fam, it was fighting… and to Redman, it was and is home. Red speaks on that upbringing background in depth with Vlad. Having to go through it (the travails of hood life), Red talks about his early Jersey life (esp. selling drugs but not pulling time like his brothers, robbing), eventually leaving all the bullsh!t (Red’s words) and getting into the music full grind. Of course, he and EPMD got down and the rest is history.

It don’t stop. Gotta keep it pushing for the “Malibu” project.

Great clip; more than just ‘playalistic’ stuff, LL Cool J is speaking on rap styling and life in general. The discussion really touches on the underpinnings of what Hip-Hop was meant to be. Too short. Well worth watching though.

Schooly D says he does not want to be a teacher in the clip above, but listen to the OG because he is speaking truth into the future. Shot in 1986, the Philly legend is speaking on realities in Hip-Hop (independence being freedom, parallels and similar perils in Rock-n-Roll and Rap, etc.) and more that hold in 2016. Plus, it is just really dope to flash back to a time when our culture was still finding its way. ‘No biting allowed’ was the rule and cultural appropriation was non-existent because no outsiders knew enough to ‘steal’ anything from us. Hip-Hop was barely a decade old.
It’s a short clip. Enjoy it thoroughly!

It’s only a six-minute clip but there is a lot in there (including precious seconds of screen time with gorgeous wifey Gabrielle Union). D Wade joining D Rose in Chicago certainly signals the Bulls desire to win rings, but other things ring true in this clip. Concerned about making the most of his remaining time (even referencing his long-gone youth, when he was ‘able to sit Indian style’ and dream about playing for the Bulls), getting the best contract and competitive situation for himself…all that and more…factored into Dwayne Wade’s decision to make that move from Miami.
