Survivor’s Remorse (Season 2 Trailer)
Season 1 was pretty funny, and Season 2 looks to top the silliness…and the sexy. Yep, Mike Epps asked if ol’ girl licked her belly button FROM THE INSIDE!!?? Wowwwwww. Oh, and there’s basketball. And um, Lebron James (executive producer) has something to do with the whole thing (hahaaaa).
“Survivor’s Remorse,” a six-episode half-hour comedy series, follows Cam Calloway played by Jessie T. Usher, a basketball phenom in his early 20’s who is suddenly thrust into the limelight after signing a multi-million dollar contract with a professional basketball team in Atlanta. Cam, along with his cousin, and confidant Reggie Vaughn, played by RonReaco Lee, move to Georgia to start Cam’s journey to success.
The two confront the challenges of carrying opportunistic family members and their strong ties to the impoverished community that they come from. Cam, Reggie, and an unforgettable group of characters wrestle with the rewards and pitfalls of stardom, love, and loyalty.
Yasiin Bey Versus… Any Emcee? (Video)
No doubt you’ve heard (and seen) the shots let off in the video of Yasiin Bey (the artist formerly known as Mos Def) declaring on camera that no one can test or best him, Black Thought or King Los in a rhyme fight… that anyone who thought different could meet and settle the beef for big charity dollars and bragging rights. You heard about that, right? Well if you didn’t, you can play the embedded video above.
Raw, right? Started thinking about who might step to? How about Lupe Fiasco?
Hells yes! Lupe threw down the gauntlet like, “Once again…It’s ON!”
BUT… hold up… wait…
Ice Cube Breaks Down The Lyrics To ‘Straight Outta Compton’ (Video)
Juuuust in case Ice Cube’s straightforward sword-sharp delivery of his lyrics on N.W.A.’s gangsta rap classic “Straight Outta Compton” were not strong enough to carry the message clearly to all… Vanity Fair brought in the man himself to properly interpret what he meant for his rhymes to say to the masses… and give feedback to folks who submitted what they thought Ice Cube meant. Good stuff. Watch.

Sean Price Music Video Tribute Mix (Video)
This is so dope! Respect to Deejay Irie for doing justice to the Hip-Hop giant Sean Price. Rest in Peace shout to P!
8-8-2015 the Hip hop community lost Sean Price a.k.a. the brokest rapper you know. Like many I’m shocked to hear this. Sean P is one of my top 5 all time favorite rappers. For this reason I decided to pay homage to him by creating a video mix with only Sean P spitting those crazy, funny, clever and real rhymes that we all love.

R.I.P. Sean Price
The Source, Rolling Stone, People, AllHipHop, Vibe, and NY Daily News all confirm that Sean Price (aka Ruck, one-half of Heltah Skeltah) died Saturday morning (August 8, 2015) in his sleep. He was 43 years old.
Sure, the comforting thing to say is that we should ‘celebrate the life of Price‘ or ‘remember him fondly.’ And I will; but right now, I am going to allow myself to feel a bit sad. I am going to watch vids and listen to all kinds of P (as Price would call himself) as my “Therapy” (yep, going all the way back to Heltah Skeltah’s early hits, too) to help me push through. I expect I will circle right back around what I was thinking just a couple of days ago: Sean Price was a beast in the booth, a lyrical weight champion (Mic Tyson) and so much more to Hip-Hop.
Sean Price was a crazy uncle to the Hip-Hop fam, but he had his own family, too. He gave us peeks and pieces of life with his wife and kids his rhymes and in video. We got close to P, so it’ll hurt a bit more; but we should also remember the joy that came with that closeness. I never personally met the man; but beyond rap skills, his zaniness would crack me up. The clowning that Price got into – like that Mic Tyson ‘live from Hurricane Sandy’ piece or the recent Tyrese spoof – is proof of just how far dude would go to get a laugh. I hope you got to laugh with him, too; at his antics from afar or maybe up close and personal. Yeah, I plan on laughing at some quality Sean Price craziness later; but now I am going to be sad.
Just now thinking about how I’ll miss posting those off-the-wall, no-advance-notice quick-hit rhymes and dope features. Those were pleasant surprises to be enjoyed, like his solo work. But there will be no more. A great chapter in Hip-Hop ends because the author is now gone from us.
Rest In Peace, Sean Price. We will miss you.

The Game Takes A Page From Flavor Flav In New Reality TV Show (Video)
The Game says the only thing still missing in his life is a lady to love (got close: flashback to “Marrying The Game”). Well, he’s gonna find one dammit. And he’s gonna get his friends to help. And they’re gonna put the potentials through some serious paces to test their worthiness. And they’re recording all this for television. And you can watch, starting August 10, 2015 (9PM EST on VH1).
And NO… the show is NOT called The Game Of Love. It’s called “She’s Got Game.” Check out the trailer above.
Ice Cube Speaks On Ghostwriters In Hip Hop Music (Video)
Ice Cube (with DJ Yella leaning in with silent ‘amens’) weighs in on whether it is okay for rappers to get help with the pen game when it comes to Hip-Hop. Insights from a vet. Listen up. Good counterpoint from his son (yeah, counterpoint). The rest of the cast of the NWA biopic “Straight Outta Compton” shares whether it still matters if you write your rhymes, too.
Miguel – “Crazy Enough” (Mini-Documentary)
“I’ve never loved anything more than music. I’ve never imagined or envisioned myself doing anything else… I was just crazy enough to believe deeper than the odds, I suppose.”
– Miguel
As humans moving through life as best we can, we often wish could go back and [at least] talk to our past selves. Had to strike a chord within us to see this piece that blends throwback footage a hopeful up-and-coming Miguel blended with commentary from the seasoned mega-talent we have come to know over the years since. SO much insight on the artist, and the man, in a short clip. Watch.
[B]ack in 2008, we shot a young hopeful in San Pedro. He took us by his house, told us about his family. He was stuck, then, in a contract with a label that wanted him to be somebody different. He was busy holding the line, a little flustered, but not shook. He believed. When we went back to him this summer, we found the same person.

Capone-N-Noreaga Speak On ‘Lessons’, Meek Mill Vs. Drake, & Nore’s Upcoming ‘Foodie’ Show (Video)
I’m still winning. I have an 7th grade education, I’m dyslexic, and I’ve made millions of dollars. God bless America!
– Noreaga
Yup, AND Nore is finalizing talks with Lions Gate to do a Hip-Hop food & travel show. Winning most definitely! And anybody watching this Hot 97 Morning Show interview with CNN is winning, too. These dudes are always hilarious; especially Nore. The stories he tells (like ‘Tiger Bone’). The duo gets around to talking about their album “Lessons” (out now) and “U.M.A.R.” (yoUr Man’s All Real); and also comment on the Drake vs. Meek Mill beef.

Evidence’s Truthful ‘Confessions’ (Video)
In this episode of Confessions, FACT fires questions at Evidence (of Dilated Peoples) and he gives the straight dope on ’em. Best two (to us): (1) that he is not mad, just high and (2) that he sleeps pretty f#cking good (likely because of the being high thing)!
50 Cent ‘Kept It 100’ With Larry Wilmore On ‘The Nightly Show’ (Video)
Yep, Larry is not letting up on Cosby. That and more with a strong panel on this episode of The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore – Judd Apatow (director/producer of “Trainwreck”), Rachel Feinstein (comedian, frequent guest, sexy…just saying), and 50 Cent (rapper, has that movie “Southpaw” coming, and you know about exec-producing and co-starring in “Power” on the Starz channel). And the “Keep It 100” segment, strong (no ‘weak tea’).
More after the jump.

Unsung: Kid ‘N Play (Video)
Hmmm… don’t know if Kid ‘N Play could truly be considered ‘Unsung’… seeing as how they had hit records (plural), a string of movies, that hook-the-legs-spin-around-shoe-tap dance thing… but they are on an episode. Aaaand the insights from those episodes are really good; this one included. Watch TVOne’s documentary exploration of one of Hip-Hop’s favorite duos.
Amy Schumer Gets Into A Threesome… ‘Star Wars’ Style (Video)
Good promo for her movie “Trainwreck.” Comedian/actor Amy Schumer hilariously taking it too far like she always has. Now, we are adults here… Ladies can have a good time solo with some tech added to their sexy. But this thing Amy did with GQ… who knew she could swipe some sci-fi tech (R2 D2 and C3PO) from [Han] Solo, hop in the sack and get crazy!
Behind the scenes look at Amy’s GQ shoot above. Hit the jump to see a couple of snaps of her playing with some knobs and toys.
