The Rap Music Generation Gap Debate (Teaser Trailer)

Interesting convo here… Maybe enough room for everyone to get their views appreciated and get mad during the course of it. Great look to have Scarface in there as a student of the game AND an O.G.

Rappers from 90’s go head to head with new rappers to talk about the state of music. The panel discusses whether current artists should be students of “the game” and study the older generation and respect what came before them. They also talk about how to stay financially-secure because not all artists stay “hot” their whole career. Find out their thoughts on the state of Hip-Hop.

Haaaa! Pete Rock snapped a bit, but Vince Staples got right back. And this is just a teaser. See the whole episode on go90 here

We’re Seeing More And Bigger Black Movies, But Are African Americans Making Any Real Gains In Hollywood? (Video)

Hmmm… did anyone see the Steve Harvey-esque goof on the announcement for “Moonlight” winning The Oscar? This ‘New Hollywood Diversity Report’ segment on Roland Martin’s show might put that mistake in a different light. It’s kind of like there’s less hate for Black people in Hollywood… Now they just aren’t really paying us much mind. No shots, no hate, just saying.

The fourth annual Hollywood Diversity Report is out, and while there has been some improvement, Black people are still trailing behind their white counterparts in many ways.

Super Bowl Champion New England Patriots Are Going To Meet President Trump At The White House… Well, Most Of Them Are (Video)

Nelly joins Skip Bayless and Shannon Sharpe to talk about the Patriots visiting President Donald Trump at the White House.

When you are right, you’re right. Nelly’s right. Period! Tom Brady, great QB, captain of the team and a leader on field; but every Pats teammate need not follow him to the White House. No need to take a damn vote either. Brady was a grown man who decided not to go see the President a while back; and Martellus Bennett and Devin McCourty are grown men who get to NOT go, too.

Shannon had some good commentary in there, too.

Event: Coalition DJs 9th Anniversary Celebration & Panel Discussion (Video)

Wow.

I would say, if you you were not at Atlanta’s Coalition DJs Anniversary Celebration and Longevity Panel event, you missed something special.

I would say that.

I might even go so far as to say that you took a major L this past Monday if you missed it. However, lucky for you, you know me. Even luckier for me, I am truly blessed to know, and be able to call in a favor from, Gerald Olivari of Black Vibes! Yep, G.O. went to the event and grabbed a lot of crucial footage: wisdom from the hearts and mouths of music industry insiders and grinders who have been at it for decades (some over 30 years). So, give thanks, because you are lucky not to have missed out out dopeness like this!

Start with Part 1 above, and absorb the knowledge that flowed with real (and raw, uncensored) conversation from the panelists assembled. On hand was DJ Toomp, KP, and more who have made hits (and money) with the likes of Dallas Austin, TI, Yelawolf, OutKast, Diddy… whew! And the gems they dropped, like:

Understand business… not just ‘the business’… first. This lesson even applies when you are cutting grass for a living: If you want to get paid, for real, DO THE WORK, for real!

If you want to excel as those you admire do, get around them and work like they do.

If you find yourself blessed with the opportunity to be around greatness, shut up and listen!

INFORMATION… that is a key to LONGEVITY.

Relationships go a LONG way!

Wise words well spoken…. applicable to music making AND to life in general! And that was just in the first half of the first part (above). You can keep going and growing with Part 2 after the jump. Got some Red Carpet pics for y’all, too. Shout out to Iman Lexington and public relations guru Amy Hanks (follow @AmyHanksPR) for putting us on to this opportunity as well. Just as you will learn from watching, real DJs and folks like Gerald (with his Black Vibes platform), I.Lex (with her connections and @ILexProject music & media consultancy), and my bro JayForce here just REALLY want artists they encounter to be good – for the culture and for themselves. So, watch this FREEbie intently; especially you artists and managers out there. Keep perfecting your craft and bettering your businesses.

This should help. Good luck!

MCM Podcast |Ep. 6 “Being Black in America”

Done and done! Thank you for the word brother. Relevant convo, especially for the trying times of today for our people.

I hate to say it… My Instagram feed has been looking like a slave movie.

Damn. Usually, the MCM podcast is on some other sh!t – funny, male-centered, NY-bred flavor – but this episode…whew! Though it started mostly light, the fellas had to give way to the seriousness of the #BlackLivesMatter themed discussion kicked up to next and next levels by guest Samm Wilson who declares:

I’ve had run-ins with a lot of cops who just didn’t see me as a regular citizen.

Well… THAT’S what up with your ‘All Lives Matter’ folks. Not to everyone. Listen up.

Elon Musk: Life Is A Videogame? (Video)

Consider that we, in what we call reality, actually exist as part of a simulation (like ‘The Matrix’). It sounds crazy, but billionaire tech futurist Elon Musk says it is crazy not to think of our existence in this way. He posits that 40 years ago, the height of video gaming tech was pong – two rectangles and a dot. In less than half a century we grew the tech into some realistic, 3D simulations, in a ‘world’ of millions of simultaneous players… and such tech is getting better and better, faster and faster. Soon the line between real and virtual could very well become irrevocably blurred. Heck, to have Musk tell it, it may have happened already.

Could that be accidental, incidental, or random evolution? Well, Musk says what he thinks. What do YOU think?

Do Lyrics Still Matter? Is It All About The Beat? The State Of Hip-Hop Addressed By Flying Lotus And Pharrell Williams (Video)

Interesting esoteric insights provided by practitioners who have floated along the edges, and into and throughout Hip-Hop music.

Flying Lotus and Pharrell Williams with real talk for Scott Vener. So how is Hip-Hop doing on the whole? Are the beats dominating while lyricism lacks? Comedy: Larry Wilmore Speaks To Some Black Donald Trump Voters (Video)

Know how on a lot of our posts we say, ‘Watch and you will get it.’ Most times, we mean it; even if we don’t explicitly state it in the write-up. Well…errr-aah-umm-duuhh… not on this one. We ain’t guaranteeing sh!t. You may not ‘get it.’ Okay, maybe you’ll get a laugh; but only because Larry Wilmore is really good at his job OR because you need to laugh to keep from crying, screaming, throwing something across the room or all the above.

Larry talks to some of Donald Trump’s African-American supporters in an effort to answer the pressing question, “What the f**k are you thinking?”

WTF!! This can’t be real. Can it? Welp, somebody’s voting for The Donald in these primaries.

(Did you hear that “Coming from the Hip-Hop community, I understand his language” bullsh!t? Okay, whoever said it, gimme…gimme your GOT damn ‘hood pass NOW!)

This ‘Atlas’ Robot Stands On Its Own Two Feet…And Walks And Lifts (Video)

This is damn near the robot from the Will Smith “I Robot” movie. Boston Dynamics introduces the next generation of Atlas, an amazing bipedal robot. As you can see in the video, Atlas can balance and walk on its own two (er) feet, indoors or outdoors, lift stuff (even remembering to bend at the knees). So human-like, and so humane. Watch how the Atlas resume work right away every time someone pushes it of messes with boxes; no attitude at all. Robots don’t have feelings. Sure. But you gotta feel something wonderful about this amazing technology when you watch.

Kids React To 2016 Presidential Candidate Donald Trump (Video)

“Wait… a small loan of a million dollars?”

Wowwww. Even kids know what a majority of the Republican voting base (so far) doesn’t seem to get: Donald Trump is a rude, mean man with a terrible sense of humor, who is not in his right mind, who would NOT make America great (he’d make it worse)!

Watch. Just watch.

(Oh, there is a kid in there that kind of stands up for Trump. So, um, there’s that.)

Killer Mike Comments: Bernie Sanders Deals With Dissent While Hillary Clinton Condescends (Video)

Hmmm…some of you, now having seen and heard what Former Secretary Hilary Clinton respond to Ashley Williams’ “bring them to heel” protest, may be saying to themselves (and each other), “Somebody should SAY something.”

Well, Killer Mike is ON IT! After all, stumping for Bernie Sanders AND following up a jab at the Clinton campaign. Win-win, right?

Above: The ladies of The View welcome Killer Kill to clarify some of his hot-button campaign commentary. Oh, and while I am sure I do not have to urge YOU to vote, let the people around know… Whether during early balloting or Super Tuesday… VOTE DAMMIT!! VOTE!

White People Watch Má¾¹RTiN ‘For the First Time’ (Video)

Now, this is a worthy social experiment. Is there anybody…anybody…who did not find “Martin” falling-out funny back in the day. Hell, sometimes the reruns will make you laugh even harder right? But hold the remote… This episode of ‘For the First Time’ though.

“Martin” is hugely popular in the Black community but you’d be surprised how many people have never seen an episode. Watch as ADD’s white comedians experience Martin for the first time!

Now, the dude Big Irish Jay can front all he wants, but does anyone think he had a lot more than a ‘casual interest’ in Tichina Arnold (aka ‘Pam’)? Lots of pronunciation attempts for our girl with all them ‘pronounced’ features (‘Gina’ in the devil suit sure; but ‘Pam’ was so fine – whew)! Be sure to watch the whole video.

Jadakiss Joins ‘The Nightly Show’ Panel Hosted By Larry Wilmore (Video)

Jadakiss joined Larry Wilmore’s panel on The Nightly Show the other night. Got in on the discussion on student protests against racism, stagnation of progress on race-related matters on campus and across the country and more. The dude got to show skills on the mic in a different light, and no doubt to keep making noise for his project “Top 5 Dead Or Alive” push and for his place among Hip-Hop’s top noteworthies.

Odell’s Roundtable: Love, Sex, & “Cuffin’ Season” (Video)

On this episode of Odell’s RoundTable the topic is “Cuffing Season”.  It is getting colder and people are going out less and want to snuggle up with someone.  What goes in to cuffing season?  Is this really a scenario where you are only dating someone for a Season rather than a Reason?  Do you let the person you know that this is temporary and not to catch any feelings?  What about you do you catch feelings or what happens if someone tells you this was only temporary?  The panel consists of host Odell along with Alita, Brittany (from ATL Remix show) & guest BoxMann.  Funny but informative discussion like always on the Round Table.  Follow the show on Twitter/Instagram and email them at ortshow@gmail.com

Larry Wilmore Gets Activist Deray McKesson To Speak On #AllLivesMatter And More (Video)

We’ve seen it play out in the media; and probably in our everyday lives. Someone says #BlackLivesMatter and you get #AllLivesMatter in response… likely from someone that doesn’t get that the former exists as a slogan because, currently, not everyone holds the latter to be true. The Nightly Show panel digs into this discussion, using Presidential Candidate Jeb Bush’s dismissive ‘they want free stuff’ quip as a jumpstart for it. See that above.

After the jump: The show guest, #BlackLivesMatter activist Deray McKesson, laid out how that #AllLivesMatter doesn’t matter much. McKesson has clapped back at Bush and other outspoken Conservatives via social media and in-person appearances; letting them and people know about institutional racism’s true effects on our country and oppressed people in it today.

Mac Miller Talks About ‘Battling’ Donald Trump And More On ‘The Nightly Show’ With Larry Wilmore (Video)

Mac Miller has his new album “GO:OD AM” out now (linked here). So, it makes since for him to go on some talk shows and talk it up. But for his The Nightly Show appearance, I think only host Larry Willmore mentioned it. That’s alright though, as anyone seeing him on this episode will likely be checking for his “Donald Trump” song and anything of Miller’s they can get their hands on. Twitter beef with The Donald after calling him a d!ckhead – hilarious! Actually, the whole panel discussion above is next level funny. And Mike Yard is a fool!! Must watch now.

(Mac said Trump is like a struggle rapper… bwaaahahaaaa!)

Yep, Larry is not letting up on Cosby. That and more with a strong panel on this episode of The Nightly Show with Larry WilmoreJudd Apatow (director/producer of “Trainwreck”), Rachel Feinstein (comedian, frequent guest, sexy…just saying), and 50 Cent (rapper, has that movie “Southpaw” coming, and you know about exec-producing and co-starring in “Power” on the Starz channel). And the “Keep It 100” segment, strong (no ‘weak tea’).

Sandra Bland: How Did An Improper Turn Signal Lead to Her Death? (Video)

Recently the country has had their eyes on Texas yet again for another encounter of cops and the treatment of Black Women.  A couple months back there was the incident of cops in McKinney TX violently attacking young black children and a young sista was slammed to the ground and sat on by a Race Soldier I mean officer of the law.  Now in Waller County, TX the sad story of Sandra Bland who was found dead in her jail cell after she was arrested for a turn signal violation.  The local cops have claimed it is suicide but the Bland family disagrees and thinks their is foul play.  A lot of people across the country thought the same especially since Sandra Bland was an outgoing 28 year old who just landed her dream job at her alma mater Prairie View A&M University.  That doesn’t strike me as someone who wants to kill themselves over a traffic stop.  Dr Boyce Watkins uses his platform to speak on this topic and invites Yvette Carnell founder of ( BreakingBrown.com ) & Benjamin Dixon ( TheBenjaminDixonShow.com ) to join him and go deeper into this incident and what it represents.  The sad reality is this traffic stop led to this woman’s death and the officer who is paid to protect and serve did his part to ignite confrontation.  This is great discussion by free thinkers not controlled by corporate media.  Video of the officer pulling Sandra Bland over after the jump.
